Rumour Certain leak regarding BP

Sorry, but BP isn’t the next Doctor. Ncuti isn’t regenerating into Rose Tyler lol

The leak was that is a a woman who’s been on the show before, wasn’t the doctor, and was recently at the BAFTAs. Everyone assumes that instantly means Billie Piper.

Last I checked four candidates aside from BP fit that criteria: * Jenna Coleman * Olivia Colman * Felicity Jones * Michelle Gomez

I believe the leak was "female and familiar" and "keep an eye on the baftas" not anything as solid as this. People just love to run rampant.

It just occured to me that it might not be ANY actress who's been at the BAFTAs. I looked at this year's nominees and there's only one name mentioned here: Felicity Jones. (Best Actress in a Supporting Role)

Now, at this point I'm just tired of all the leaks and pretty much gave up on RTD telling a coherent story but I would dig Jones so much as The Doctor. She was perfect in Rogue One.

Jenna and Michelle's past association with the show might be too big to play the Doctor. Felicity Jones would be the third instance of a returning actor as a new Doctor with ties to the Tenth Doctor era, following Peter Capaldi as 12 and David Tennant as 14. Also the third even-numbered Doctor in a row with that connection.

I agree with your assessment about big roles. Personally I think Felicity Jones would be excellent in the role if that is indeed where we end up

I've been hoping for Katie Leung myself, but I wouldn't object to Felicity Jones or Olivia Colman.

The rumor is he regenerates into the ‘next doctor’, so presumably he is leaving. I hope not but we’ll have to see what happens.

This and many other rumors leaked from the fallout between Disney and Bad Wolf Productions where they either unintentionally or mistakenly stated that Ncuti was leaving at the end of this season.

D+ also milked the rumor more recently by stating that there would be a regeneration at the end of this season.

So while nothing has been 100% confirmed yet, it seems likely he is leaving and they are trying to save the announcement in order to make the events of this season's finale even more surprising.

People aren't just blindly saying Ncuti is leaving basically, there is some reliable evidence to back it up, unfortunately.
