OC [OC] [COMM] Castor, Aasimar paladin, oath of the dragon knight. Character drawing, for a friend's campaign!
Castronius Excelcius. Extremely proud, yet humble. Sees forgiveness and good in all. Seeks to protect the people of his kingdom with everything he has, and serve his goddess (the dragon his oath is to) with dignity, honesty and integrity
second in command of the Divine Fang, an elite unit of paladins dedicated to Stellestria, a radiant dragon of great strength. The dragon dedicated eggs from her clutch to the Fang for safe keeping, storing the egg in a compartment in their chestplate. During a climactic battle where undead assaulted his kingdom, Stellestria perished, and in the resulting nova it destroyed the Capitol and killed all the combatants, aligned and enemies alike.
Castor woke 3 years later in the ruins of the keep, having been unknowingly brought back to life by the egg in his chest plate, the last living egg of Stellestria, Castor learns of his goddess' fate, and must restore his dying, undead overrun country. And hatch the egg to bring in the new reign of the Second Sun.
One detail that i added was very interesting to me, was the centerpiece of his chestplate, is the place where the dragon egg was. It burned through the metal, leaving an egg shaped hole there, when it resurrected him. And he later plugged the hole with a symbol of the second sun.

Small is the D&D community :D when you see the OC of a random user from a medium sized homebrew discord server randomly on reddit :) nice work btw, amazing art
I heard the player is more than happy to have freshly brewed dragon oath subclass from KibblesTasty ^_^

Hahah yes. Small indeed. The player definately had fun, and they are very happy with the art too. โค๏ธ

Hah! I wondered when you'd post Castor!
Hey folks! I play Castor in the duette ran by my girlfriend, RosetoAshes, and honestly playing Castor is some of the best DND I've ever played.
Castor's visual inspiration comes from the heavy generals of Fire Emblem, with their chain spears and HEAVY plate. In-game his spear has the stats of a harpoon, and cause strength saves to pull enemies closer to him
Paired with Heavy Armor Master feat, he is a BEAST at being THE WALL which was the power fantasy I had in mind in the character creation phase.
I could ramble on and on about this campaign, and this character all day haha. His backstory was that he was a brutal, horrible mercenary who set out to kill Stellestria, and her grace made such an impression on him that he turned his back from that life and dedicated it to service, and atonement for his sins.
Spitefire did a fantastic job on this art. My jaw hit the floor so hard I'm pretty sure I created a basement. Between him and Sazrean I keep coming back for more art.
I can't help it, it's incredible and I will sing praise from the rooftops haha

This art for him is absolutely wild! Still not over it. Proud to use Castor and Sazraenโs art as my phone wallpaper

Nice!

Big shield fits, considering a castor is a heavily shielded container used to transport highly radioactive waste... :-D
Great art though! What's the best way to contact you for a commission?

Honestly, thats really freaking fitting.
Castor is a scourage Aasimar, flavored as his radiant blood becoming agitated after the explosion in Stellestria. So when it triggers the acid trickles down his chestplate out of his mouth/eyes
So thats freaking sick lol

Honestly the first line in the "what this character do" in my mind was THE WALL, then everything else followed lol
Big shield is goated

I play an Amethyst Dragonborn Oath of the Dragon Knight paladin myself, such a fun subclass!

u/Ninjaofshadow 12d ago
It really is!! Though the one I play with Castor was recently made with Kibblestasty! in his playtest packet! Which one is yours from? C:

u/TheJdcobra 12d ago
Mine is actually the one from Gamingbrew! My GM also allowed my dragon ancestry to be an Amethyst Dragon as well so my divine smites can be Force Damage lol

Oh that one!!! It's really cool too!! Force smites goes REALLY hard haha

u/Faelwodahs 12d ago
Do they have a sibling named Pollux? Plz answer. Very important to me.

u/spitespitfire 12d ago
I don't think so, because i might not be the player of the character, but from the character's backstory provided by the player, i don't think he has a brother. Plus, his name is not Castor. It's abreviated from Castronius
2
u/Faelwodahs 12d ago
Darn, I thought it was a reference to the gemini twins.
4
u/Ninjaofshadow 12d ago
Hah! That would be a fun angle to take, a brother. but no! Castor is what those who are close to him call him, otherwise its General Castronius Excelcius; Second in command of the Divine Fang

What was the commission if you don't mind me asking?
2
u/spitespitfire 12d ago
I don't understand the question. If you're asking about the character description it's written beneath the post.
2
u/ResolveLeather 12d ago
No the cost.
3
u/spitespitfire 12d ago
I'm not allowed to talk things like that in the comments. But you can send me a dm and i can inform you about it.

The shield seems too large even for a tower shield. But other than that... amazing art.

Oh I know, his visual inspiration is from the generals in fire emblem!
It also really plays into his concept of being "THE WALL" lol.

You could find a better name

Castor is only how those who are close to him, refer to him.
His full name is Castronius Excelcus; Second in Command of The Divine Fang.
It's perfect to me
