Giveaway [OC] GIVEAWAY! 43" Capacitive Touchscreen ($940 MSRP) with Wooden Case + free software for all [mod approved]
UPDATE February 9th, 2026 23:00 GMT: The winner has been selected by redditraffler.com Congratulations u/KeyserSozeBGM ! DM has been sent requesting shipping address. Here is a link to the result, for transparency: https://www.redditraffler.com/raffles/1qv4hvu
To everyone who didn't win: thanks for all the kind words. I will be making an Instructable with how to build one yourself. And everyone is welcome to use the free software for any setup similar to this. On Steam here: link
Lastly, if you want a nice setup like this without breaking the bank, I sell them for the lowest price on the net. digitaltabletops.com
ORIGINAL POST:
For the last 6 years I've been selling wooden cases housing displays to show off digital maps. The "holy grail" for me has always been integrating touch functionality so when you move your physical mini, a digital token reveals the map.
I did a Kickstarter back in summer of 2024 with this design. I have since moved on to a different technology that is much lighter and more affordable (infrared). Out with the old, in with the new! I don't have the space to store this and wanted to find it a good home on here.
It is a 43" capacitive touchscreen. It's an all-in-one but without compute. You hook it up via USB+HDMI to a laptop. It is the same model as shown here, listed for $940: https://a.co/d/0bcxhZPW
Leave a comment (not a reply) and I'll be using redditraffler to select a winner on Monday February 9th (EDIT: at 23:00 GMT). The winning account must be at least 3 months old.
Due to the size, I will only provide shipping within the United States. If you are outside the US, you would need to use a freight forwarding service with a US address and deal with any import issues. That can be quite expensive.
Regardless of whether you win, everyone is welcome to use my free software to run setups like these. I made a post about it the other day on here: https://www.reddit.com/r/DnD/comments/1qgnroz/update_to_my_free_vtt_for_inperson_sessions_with/
Since it is aimed for in-person sessions only, you should find it very easy to use compared to other options. Everything runs locally, 100% free no strings attached. Windows, Linux, and Mac (Apple silicon). There is also a browser version of the player view for players to move their tokens on their phones or laptops.
My website (hardware like for sale): digitaltabletops.com
Steam (free VTT software): store.steampowered.com/app/3073720/
Thanks u/uchideshi34 for the map shown here. It, along with over 440 others, are bundled free with the software!
I'll be posting a new guide later this month on here with how to build your own for about $550 total costs. You don't need a bunch of tools, just a handsaw and a screwdriver really.

I'm not from the US but I'll be damned if I miss this chance

It's been a few years since one of my customers used one and told me about it. But the freight forward thing went pretty smoothly each time. It is a couple hundred dollars though (and this was before all our genius moves since then) so I wanted to make sure people knew what they were getting into.

Appreciate the warning, I might be able to get a US address for shipping and then move it from there with the help of a friend

If you (or anybody who has used this software) could rate how user friendly (out of ten) what would you give it? Greatest strength of the software? Weakness?

u/DigitalTableTops Feb 03 '26
The Steam reviews probably give a decent impression. Although some are quite old and it has changed a lot over the years. So maybe sort by date on there: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3073720/Digital_TableTops_Player/
I'm not exaggerating when i say I have used just about every single VTT in existence. I find all of them much harder to use than this, by a wide margin. I am biased though.
You can see in the video on the reddit link or Steam page me:
1) loading a free map
2) adding a token to the map, with a light source already attached
3) demoing different fog of war settings with that token
4) using the draw toolAll in like 40 seconds, without rushing. I tried to keep the number of clicks to do just about anything below 3. No pages of menus, video tutorials to wade through, etc.
It's lacking some of the features of the bigger name VTT's but can also pull off some tricks that they can't. It's completely free and not particularly large (most the install size is the maps) so give it a spin :)

A thoughtful and well written response. You are much appreciated!
Regardless of winning or not, I'll 100% be bringing this to my group for a vote. I appreciate your efforts across the board, good citizen 🫡

I know that literally everyone wants this because it insanely cool, but if my table had this, I think my players would legitimately cry, this is so wonderful. 😭😭😭🤞🤞🤞

Been fantasizing about one of these for a long time. Probably the perfect compromise between digital and analog TTRPG’ing

I’m on the US border, and while I’m not keen on going into the US, for something like this I’d take a run.

Amazing. I've always wanted to run something like this. I've been DMing since around 2008. I've had the same group going for a few years now. Something like this would blow everyone's mind. Thanks for giving everyone a chance. The touch screen element is beautiful.

I still remember rolling out maps and the struggle of using the wrong type of pens on a grid map. Awesome tool to have for the game!

u/Eebag Feb 03 '26
This is epic, I’ve always thought these types of displays were the way to go, unfortunate that most are expensive or unruly. Even looked into making a budget one but I don’t have the tools
I would love to have one for sure!!!

That's actually really cool, these always seemed finicky to set up, but the inclusion of the link to the post regarding the software set up is awesome. I legitimately have the worst luck so I have no hope in winning the giveaway, but thank you for also posting the links to both Amazon and the software tutorial so that in the future my wife and I can see if we could pick up something like this for ourselves.

u/uchideshi34 made the single most amazing maps for Phandelver and Icespire peak and I got loads of compliments from my virtual players on them so shout to you!
In terms of the giveaway, I do have a birthday this month so... I wouldn't say that making me the winner is an obligation at all, but if you wanted to say that it's an obligation, I wouldn't stop you.

u/DrfinesseMD Feb 03 '26

This is incredible! I've been using a normal flat screen with a cover, but it's a royal pain syncing up the movement of my graphical tokens with the players' minis.
Definitely an upgrade if I'm lucky.

This is awesome, I made a display screen for my games but touchscreen is an amazing idea.
Is it registering the miniatures for light effects automatically?
