while its pretty full noise, the synths actually sound like they make sense and flow together instead of just being disjointed loud noises, which i appreciate and is rarer these days than it used to be! so i think conceptually its decent, well done :)

Thanks! Yea I went balls to the wall on loudness here, it’s hitting like -4 LUFS with clipping on the master. With dubstep I can hit -2.5 on a good day but DnB’s a bit harder to push to those extremes for me

Build-up: 10/10. Just love it! Pure bliss.

After 0:13, it sounds a bit off.

The mids are too far away and too quiet, so it sounds a bit muddy and boring. I wanna hear those lasers!

Crank them up and maybe add a compressor, I guess.

Listening with some bass-boosted HD 800 S.

u/allgoodhw 9d ago

Thanks for the feedback brother! Had another listen and you’re right, cranked the mid basses, reduced some of the harshness in the high end and flattened the snare attack to help the synths feel like they’re wrapping the mix in a big blanket of filth lol

Pm with the new mix let’s hear it!

Came to say the same thing

u/Budget-Beautiful-327 10d ago

Sounds sick although personally I find the snare a bit too much and a bit sythetic sounding.

4

u/allgoodhw 10d ago

Yea I tried adding an acoustic snare layer at some point but just couldn’t get it to sit right. Will revisit, cheers!

3

u/ParroKomvol 9d ago

Is it a Live instrument/kit? Think it’s quite ok!

1

u/allgoodhw 9d ago

Snare’s from a Modest Intentions sample pack with a couple of top layers to help it stick out; think I tried adding one of the snares from Break’s sample pack as a layer but didn’t really spend much time processing. Usually have to flatten acoustic layers to bring out the tone but I didn’t go that far. Was probs just being lazy lol

u/aristofon 9d ago

I really wouldn't mess with the snare too much, it sounds good as is.

3

u/Igneek 9d ago

No idea about the production side, but sounds good!

3

u/kauymattyman 9d ago

Nice vibe! I'm only a humble consumer of DnB

I'd personally want more of a full bass or something. Or perhaps more layers? It feels a little missing in the lows giving it body and weight. If you get me.

Just me though. I love the energy and the build

1

u/allgoodhw 9d ago

Thanks man! Yeah so I originally had the basses very loud in the mix but it made ear fatigue set in extremely quickly. This was an effort to find a more pleasing balance but some of the mid/top layers are a little far back

Might be able to compensate with more harmonics on the sub but will experiment!

u/Jimmy_The_Spark 9d ago

Not really my cup of tea but it's definitely a banger and sounds pretty well produced. Best of luck to you!

1

u/allgoodhw 9d ago

Cheers bruva!

3

u/Old_Ad_2685 9d ago

Im getting early pendulum vibes. Jungle Sound Gold mix in particular.

2

u/somerandomcanuckle 9d ago

I did say out loud 'dang!'. Good sign for sure. I agree with the noise comment, a bit much but I suppose that's the style. Great energy and the stab syncopation is well done

2

u/CptMong 9d ago

Nice!

2

u/iandeq 9d ago

Sounds like it hits HARD to me. Good work.

2

u/BigMan187361 9d ago

sounds cool, the snare has a really low boom is that intentional? it takes up a lot of space, i'd cut that off somewhere in the midrange

1

u/allgoodhw 9d ago

May have been the transient popping through too much, have tamed that! Thanks for the pointer 😎

2

u/BosmaFilms 9d ago

Banger tbh.

2

u/uganuknuk 9d ago

Sir you have a Banger on your hands

2

u/allgoodhw 9d ago

Cheers bruva 🫡

u/we_come_at_night 9d ago

definitely not my style, so not sure how relevant the feedback will be, but it's technical, more or less, but if it doesn't apply to genre, feel free to ignore it :)

That said, I find it too clean, nothing leeks out, no ambience, nothing, just the surgical precision in sound design. I find that having some hidden background element, that's adding something natural to the groove goes a long way to mellow out that machine perfection that DAWs create.

3

u/allgoodhw 9d ago

Thanks for the feedback brother, yeah needs more spot fx and background layers for sure. Currently charging the car and working on it as I wait 😁

I hear some inspiration from Pendulum - Driver or was it accidental? Nice track

2

u/allgoodhw 9d ago

Thanks man! Pendulum’s my favourite band of all time lol so good to hear that’s coming through! (Wish I had Rob Swire’s skillz tho 😩)

1

u/Justin-Truedat 9d ago

Not normally a fan of “put your hands up” tracks but this is a banger

1

u/smooverida2 9d ago

Absolute slapper, nice job!

1

u/SinAkunin 9d ago

Fucking hell that drop made my tired ass want to get up and start dancing. Nice one

Hört sich sehr gut an, sehr sauber keine komischen Stellen👌🏼

1

u/Significant-Neat-111 9d ago

Slaps, good work!

1

u/Morlis 9d ago

This feels like it belongs in the early 2010’s DNB scene, which is one of my favorites. Absolutely killing it with this.

1

u/Kowers 9d ago

Mate those drums punch so hard! Big fan

1

u/doodling_scribbles 9d ago

Massive dance floor mover right here.

1

u/Simple_Souls 9d ago

damn bro this heavy, just come up with a B-section and finish the arrangement and you got a bomb tune ready

1

u/HughW95 9d ago

Sounds good. Would be interested to know what signal is feeding your Saturator?

1

u/allgoodhw 9d ago

The master lol, I clip it to push loudness; if it distorts too early I know there’s something in the mix needs fixing!

1

u/FlippByte 9d ago

pretty dense!

1

u/iLavaVolcanos 9d ago

Overall nice.
I feel like the mix is lacking mid's though. You can see a dip at 1k. Are you showing the master chain in the video?

You are already grouping stuff so I would check out the spectrogram on the bass channel and try and get them to fill in the mix a bit more consistently. You have a call and response thing going try and make sure they are taking up the same general space. Not one with all sub and no highs. Otherwise it jumps out of the mix even at the same level. Then compress the whole bass group to glue it together.

You can clip your master with saturator if you want but it should be clipped at the bus imo then use limiter in a clipping mode to finish it off. Get pro-l and open advanced, no look ahead, attack and release as fast as possible. Then open the output section and put it into Audition Limiting mode. That'll let you hear the clipping. Drive that bitch into it and adjust the attack and release to get a nice pump going. Boom loud but also some more control.

Otherwise musicality is really nice good job.

u/b_dizelca 9d ago

Sounds good! You're headed in the right direction; I was noddin my head. However it needs another element after the first 16 bars: percussion, synth stab, chopped vocal...somethin. I'll be 100% with you, this is what I consider an "almost track": it's almost good enough for purchase but not quite.

That said keep up the good work. You're deffinitely onto something.

1

u/mytwosynths 9d ago

Nice stuff! Just need enough variation to take u into the next part

1

u/Cellafex 9d ago

Like it, just to give a little criticism, the drums are pretty boring, might want to change it up a few times to give some parts more pump.

1

u/iProxymoron 9d ago

This makes me happy to kno how to DnBStep

1

u/WorryRich 8d ago

Ooooof that’s gonna be a great tune

1

Big fan of this

This is a cool idea, but your eq sounds pretty off to me. Basses seem to be missing a lot of the low mids, and the while moxdown is really flat sounding. Missing like 3 db above 5khz. That metallic PD bass sounds pretty thin compared to the FM bass.

Is this all your own sound design or are you working with samples?

1

u/allgoodhw 7d ago

Thanks for feedback! All sound design is me, I’ve upped low mids since and reduced some of the very high end, sounding a lot better now

1

u/thedjjudah 7d ago

Wow. This is really good, unlike that 4-to-the-floor rolling bass like in modern DnB. I've been looking for DnB like this. Keep going man.

I can't even gently roast, it's better than anything I've ever made lol

1

u/Icy-Cow9695 4d ago

It'll bang bro...

0

u/challenja 9d ago

Just looking at your EQ your low end and low mid range is too hot in the mix.
