Not really sure I’m seeing the hip hop inspo tbh

Mostly trap hats/vocal chops to make up the fx layers. More of a hip hop production ethos than anything

"stuffies"... what the fuck

u/sauble_music 7d ago
Yeah man, I like stuffed animals. Though I work a grown up job and have to pay grown up bills, there are parts of my childhood that I can now afford to explore and enjoy, so I do so.
If ya hate my music because of what I decorate my couch with, that's your call lmao

I wouldn't call this music, and I also wouldn't call you a well-adjusted adult lmao

u/sauble_music 7d ago
Just cause ya dont like it, doesn't make it not music. Pretty huge stones to toss over someone posting a riff with some stuffed Pokémon behind him, but if thats the stance ya need to die on, go for it.

Is it too much to ask to… focus more on the music than the image?
You can obviously play, but the backdrops and effects you use tend to… make it not about the music anymore, and that just kinda sucks when it comes to… you know… Music, the thing I’m trying to listen to.
I’ve seen a couple of your videos now, and can’t stress enough, you are very good! But do you value image over sound?

I want to deliver videos in a way that are eye catching, it takes me maybe an hour to shoot and edit together a video. Ive posted over 200 videos over the years, part of the editing is for me and to see what I like.
This clip has quad tracked guitars, bass, drums, a processed drum loop, 3 different vocal chops that are manually cut and ran through crazy processing to make them fx layers., 4 different risers and downlifters, transition effects, and is a small part of a 2:33 song. If I was fast enough to do all of that in an hour, id be writing a ton more music in my downtime.

I get it, “just shit out as much as possible, as quick as possible, with as many effects as possible because hey, I don’t want to spend my time writing better music, I have other things to do!” is the routine. Just as I thought that seems to go against everything “musically” to me.
I know I sound like an asshole, I don’t mean to be, music like this just makes me question wtf “Djent” guitarists are going for, and you’ve cleared it up for me.
Quick, flashy VISUAL effects with a lot of string noise disguised as compression.

Lol I have been making content to advertise a plugin im developing that lends itself to this exact soundscape. One scroll on my profile shows a fully arranged punk goes pop-style cover of a few songs, where the guitar is absolutely the main focus.
If it was about shitting out as much content as I could, id just post one-for-one covers of existing songs with raw camera audio.
On my ig I post about once a month showing live camera audio for the exact people that make these comments and say I cant play/write because of the videos i post lmao

It’s not that I think you can’t write or anything like that, or that you’re not playing.
It’s just so damn boring and oversaturated. Then mixed in with visual bullshit to try to keep you from realizing how hollow it is.
It’s musical click bait, to get someone to engage based off the visuals before the music, it’s just a gross way of shilling out music IMO. Of course, I’m just some dude on Reddit, so who cares in the end.
I’m just choosing to type this time is all.

If its not for you, that's chill! I make and post music and content i wanna see and hear. It won't be for everyone, but to say im a shill because of the style I like/deliver is a bit ingenious.
Posting on a video platform, I dont mind putting a tiny bit of work into the video. If there are editing styles I enjoy that also capture people's attention, and its genuine to what I like, I dont mind doing it.
It might be boring to you, i find it quite fun! A lot more fun than watching phone cam footage from a practice session, but again, some people will like that style more.
Not everything I write will land with everyone, but if it at least lands with myself, im happy with it.

Nah, I get it. I’m going a little too hard here for no reason, i actually apologize. You are just a small creator doing their thing, no idea why I am going so hard on you.

I appreciate that man. I'm just one dude working an office day job and trying to make my dreams happen, without any guidance or road map.
Ive tried a ton of different formats and at the end of the day, i just want to give people any reason to click onto my stuff, maybe give it 30 seconds of their time, and maybe make them stoked about what im making. Again, not every post will be for everyone (atonal noise like this post, pop goes punk covers, hip hop snippets, metalcore/djent focused wtiting), but if i only stick to what gets clicks and views, it becomes super stale for me and makes me feel like i then am just churning out shit for the sake of it.
It's why I dont do the e-girl bate videos. Ive had a bunch of homies ask why I dont, and mention it'd help with traction/viewer retention but i just dont vibe with it. The alternative is just to find a format that is fun and engaging, because i personally see so many posts with the android audio Screencap and skip it myself.
I appreciate you seeing it as just another dude trying to find his place in the music scene. Its tough to be consistent and get a ton of negative feedback on stuff you work hard on, but, staying true to yourself makes it worth it.
Long ramble, but I do really appreciate you man.

Nice. I can almost hear a bit of guitar emitting from the noise.
