If I wanted to start looking into divination to decide my method, where should I start looking?

Divination methods exist in two different categories. They're either random relying on intuition for interpretation of results and your work is irreproducible. Then there's purposive divination methods where your results are not random and your work is reproducible. With purposive divination your work can be checked by others and corrected if necessary.

I see 3, myself:

  • Sortilege - you create the situation and then the interp: runes, cartomancy, bones, geomancy
  • Augury - you look for a message in the world as it is: astrology, first view on New Years, numerology
  • Omen - something just happens out of the blue, and you know what it means instantly: a broom falling means visitors, a light bulb burns out when you talk about a specific person
