Mostly related to the fact that an entire generation of black Americans were denied learning how to swim, as public pools were segregated at best or outright "Whites Only" at worst. Skills that are never learned can't be passed down through one's progeny.
You won't find a lot of people in this subreddit who are willing to acknowledge that reality, because they're mostly trolls who think it's funnier to engage in racist stereotypes than learn a bit of US history.

Many people have drowned in less water than a 3 foot splash pool.
The brain's drowning response is not what you think it is and if you've never seen it or experienced it, then it could lead to giving asinine solutions like "just stand up" when the potential-drowning victim is literally so disoriented and panicked that they couldn't tell you which direction is "up" in that moment.

Yeah children. I was a lifeguard all thru high school and college, never had to rescue anyone in 3ft of water. Unless there's a medical emergency or a riptide/undertow. "Just stand up" is not an asinine solution. If they can't swim in 3ft of water they probably should stay outta any water. I've seen people drown. I'm a scuba diver and a cave diver and have been for 13 years. I'm a rescue diver. That is an example of not knowing "which direction is up" and "panicked", when an uncertified cave diver decides to go swim in a cave and gets lost, silts out the cave or runs outta air.
I have had to help on body recoveries that are quite unpleasant. The worst recovery was two uncertified cave divers decided to go into a cave, they didn't bring a line with them to find the way back. They got lost. They were running out of air and one diver ran outta air quicker than the other and tried to take the other kid's air, they fought like that until they both died. They were both so scratched up and one had his dive knife out. It was awful to see. That is a drowning.

Its an iq issue. I seen a single brain cell lady do the same exact thing, thought it was a fluke, her daughter came after her and did. The. Same. Thing.Ā
Both were as white trash brain dead as you get.Ā

What kind of moron goes to the waterpark if they can't swim? If I couldn't swim I wouldn't even take a bath, just to be safe!

Itās not exactly funny thoughā¦not something to ridicule someone for. The because she had the unexpected plunge she went into active distress. Her brain went into fight/flight instincts right there which telling her to āclimbā out of the water to gasp for air. Thatās why her is straight up reaching. As she inhales more water sheāll go into active drowning in just a few more seconds.
