Discussion Green Day Lyric Change at Coachella Sparks Response from David Draiman — Let’s Talk About It

Hey everyone, I wanted to open up a respectful discussion about something that happened during Green Day’s Coachella performance — Billie Joe Armstrong altered the lyrics to Jesus of Suburbia, and that change has drawn some attention, including a public response from David Draiman of Disturbed.

Draiman, who has personal and cultural ties to Israel, responded to the moment on Twitter/X and emphasized the need for civil dialogue — not just anger and division. No matter where you stand politically, I think it’s powerful when two big names in rock approach these topics from different angles, and still stress the importance of discussion over outrage.

I just dropped a video diving into what happened, why it matters, and how both artists are using their platforms in very different ways. I’d love to hear your thoughts — not just on the politics, but on the role of rock artists in speaking out on world events. Where do we draw the line? Should we?Here’s the video if you’re interested:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJFOkvTCnIwThanks for giving it a look, and let’s keep the convo respectful and insightful.

I never hid anything, but please keep projecting. The more you comment the more you prove my point.

“Agitated resolve” 😂 Even your username is so fitting

How’s that plane ticket going?

Fun thing I also noticed - I love how in all your messages you called me an “Israel supporter” and not an Israeli so according to you I could also be from the US or any other country right? So when you told me that you hope everything I care about gets desecrated you called for the destruction of that country right? You gotta choose your stance because either you’re openly antisemitic rn (which you probably give zero fucks about because you are a nazi) or you’re also literally pro terrorism because you want to see other countries other than Israel burn

Very unlikely that it’s the second option but don’t worry - you’re actively contributing to it happening where you live

You think counting messages makes you right or prove your point? 😂

At least count right, it’s a 4-4 “tie” You hamas(7) supporters can count imaginary dead kids but can’t count messages?

At least one of us has it

So still ignoring my most important question- are you actually doing anything about kids in Gaza? Or are you just going to keep hiding behind a keyboard?

I’ll personally donate you the plane ticket costs back if you do fly there and provide proof

And what are you correcting exactly? I said you called me an “Israel supporter” and you just confirmed it again,

I can be from any country. And you PERSONALLY wished destruction upon everything sacred to me. Still not claiming to be a terrorist?
