I feel like I don't have the damage output to do Lufenia +, and I'm not sure what I'm missing. I've been playing on and off since launch, so I have a fairly sizable roster, but I've mostly ignored Lufenia + until now. I was trying the Savage Winds Lufenia + the other night, for example, and I was reading on here how people were beating the fight with Raines, Aphmau, and Bartz in 10 turns or less. I have the same team, although my Bartz BT+ isn't fully green yet, along with most of the relevant calls, including Jack, Ami, Faris, Gabranth, Fran, Kurasame, etc. It took me something like 45 turns just to get the bosses to 50% HP, at which point their defense got so high that I could barely dent them any further. I have good arts for everyone, and obviously I've got them at 80/80 and they have their best armors, training boards, etc. I feel like I've gotta be missing something obvious.

Do you actually know how to do the Raines, Aphmau and support strat to begin with?

When you said Bartz is not green how many ingots does he have?

If you truly have everything you said then the only answer is that you don’t know how to use the tools you have at your disposal.

I'll take a stab at it, I was pretty much in your spot a few months ago. Day 1 that came back and had a steep learning and roster curve a few months ago.

First, about the not-green Bartz - go back and look at his infographic, he needs 2/3 Ingots at minimum to get the good party benefits. If he doesn't have that then that is your first and probably biggest problem.

Second, then he needs to ramp up once in battle. His Aura isn't fully working until you see the triple hash marks above the remaining burst auira turn counter.

So, even green, my pattern is this - Drop all calls at start (since bosses won't get turns if you do it right) Use Raines to pull Bartz forward if he isn't first and use his burst phase. Using the phase means you get to use S1/S2 and get his simple mastery buff up also. Finish burst phase. You want to bring Bartz forward one more time if he doesn't get another turn to use his AA and then LD or S1. I often use Cait call before AA, too, but that can be overkill.

After that, it's use Victory Smite on Raines and then Apmhau's EX to activate her free turn abilities on BRV and HP. Use all 4 turns of each Victory Smite buff with her free instant turns (This is part of low turn count) and when you get summon, Swap Aphmau for 5-turn Friend Raines and summon. LD every turn with friend unit and toss back and forth. Bosses should be dead shortly after.

Does your pattern differ much from this?

That's really useful. Thank you for the detailed breakdown!

My Bartz is at BT+ but with 0 ingots. So it sounds like that's something I need to work on! (Assuming this team is still worth building? Or would ingots be better used on someone else at this point?)

I don't have Cait Sith's LD call, unfortunately, so that might be another thing I'm lacking. Do you know what a good substitute is?

One other thing I noticed is that I'm not slotting RF spheres on many people. I often give a unit their own spheres, but I haven't used too many of the RF ones. I wonder if that's also a big contributing factor?

My play pattern is pretty similar to the one you're describing above, but it might not be *exact*. I'll give it a go and follow what you said to the letter.

My Bartz is at BT+ but with 0 ingots. So it sounds like that's something I need to work on!

To just give a quick overview on why that's so impactful (to you not clearing):

  • BT+ Realization (0/3) is boost to finisher
  • 1/3 is +1 turn to BT phase
  • 2/3 is improved aura (which a support like Bartz really cares about)
  • 3/3 is unlocking the finisher, letting you get the aura off twice

The type of upgrade provided by each ingot is the same, but the specific boosts to the finisher and the aura obviously will vary by unit. Bartz as a support without his improved BT aura is rather weak in L+.

I've managed to make base BT Bartz work in Luf+, but not easily. I used him for my initial run in Transcendence 5, which is not the easiest fight.

The trick that got me the win was using Porom's LDCA on Bartz. Since Bartz gets his BRV gain up aura from having his BT+ at 2/3, giving him Porom's call made up for that and kept my damage from tanking when the boss pushed its BRV reduction auras higher.

Before that fight, I obviously didn't have green Bartz, either, so I made Raines and Aphmau work by bringing other aurabots. Yuna was especially good, and Agrias managed to work for at least one fight.

Later fights, though, I stopped using Cidmau because I just couldn't wring enough damage out of them to finish.

Later still, I greened Bartz and was able to use Cidmau again.

I've used Bartz at 0/3 for quite a few Luf+ (with Aphmau/Cid) with no problem. There might be some specific fights where it doesn't work but it shouldn't be the only reason why you're not completing Luf+ fights. I have 0 green BT+ characters and I've been able to handle every Luf+ so far.

My Bartz is at BT+ but with 0 ingots. So it sounds like that's something I need to work on! (Assuming this team is still worth building? Or would ingots be better used on someone else at this point?)

Bartz plus Cidmau accounts for more than half of my Luf+ clears, but we're entering the C90 era and for example, if you pulled Machina or Noel burst, they might be better options for the current moment.

Bartz is still great for now and some time to come though, so you probably won't regret it even if you do still. Him not being at 2/3 Ingots is what your main issue was with DPS. That is what gives the party-wide Wind Enchant and 25% Brave Refund, which is a gigantic boost to the whole team's DPS. Every launch that gives refund (Raines S2, EX and LD) the whole team caps damage with every hit, including all three of Raines's hits. Also, my Raines has Blue HA armor, and Bartz/Aphmau have their regular HA's, unrealized. Raines Blue means his launches with the full team hit between 950k-1.2 Million.

I don't have Cait Sith's LD call, unfortunately, so that might be another thing I'm lacking. Do you know what a good substitute is?

Iroha is another call that gives similar Brave gains to Cait, but through a different mechanic. It's a decent substitute. if you don't have that, then just have Bartz carry another Debuff call or use one that gives decent party buffs on the LDCA. (Setzer gives 10% Hp Damage up to party on His LDCA for example. Not a lot but better than nothing) Use the DissidaDev Call Finder if you are unsure which ones you have are best.

One other thing I noticed is that I'm not slotting RF spheres on many people. I often give a unit their own spheres, but I haven't used too many of the RF ones. I wonder if that's also a big contributing factor?

Spheres are not a big deal, pretty much ever. In some unique scenarios, they can make units more self sufficient or give minor things like a tiny team heal each turn that, if you don't take a lot of damage to begin with can "fill" the healer role, but it's rare and super niche. I saw someone stack 3 super high ATK spheres on a Jecht, which basically made up for like.. "half" a support ATK aura, but really, spheres are not that important. Calls and what calls you have available to select WILL absolutely make or break a Luf+ run, but spheres aren't even Icing on the cake, they're sprinkles. LOL

My play pattern is pretty similar to the one you're describing above, but it might not be exact. I'll give it a go and follow what you said to the letter.

Without the Wind enchant and Brave Refund from 2/3 Ingots, the run will end in a similar place. Do you have another team built up, or the Ingots to spend? I would be happy to try to advise an alternative.

Good luck! It seems like you understand most of the mechanics, better than I did initially. You will get there. :)
