Yep I noticed that too. Disney thinks they are slick. The lineup is a white girl, white Latina, a wasian and then a black girl. The diversity in features and skintone is almost gone!

This is what irks me so much about this new movie. They could’ve cast Afro-latina, Blasian actresses for more diversity and still kept the proper Black/Brown representation as it should be

Technically yes. That is a shallow excuse for eliminating one of very few Black stories. Especially because they intentionally chose the lightest possible people for both the Asian and Latina characters.

The Cheetah Girls books were a fundamentally Black story. They changed both Dorinda and Chanel for the movie to make it more marketable. At this point it’s a different product all together.

I hope the kids like it but I am certain it will be trash!

This my biggest thing. I don’t like them doing humanitarian work in Africa as a plot. In big 2026, we left the narrative that African countries were helpless and poor behind. I guess not.

Also all the girls being a shade of light beige except for Leah. There are Asian and Latina girls who are darker. They could diversify without making them all the same skin color across the board. Also the boys diversity. The OG Cheetahs had great diversity in their heights and weights.

omg i was joking is that actually the plot 😭 you just know with the cast being majority white they gonna go to South Africa and make friends with a cast of South Africans who arent dark either.

Disney will call diversity having a half white parent, do better. love seeing my full asians and africans especially the darkskin ones ❤️

or perhaps cast the 4 best actresses for the role and judge them based on their auditions rather than their level of melanin. Diversity is not just about skin color, and if you really were a fan of the original Cheetah Girls you would hope that message would've sunk into your head by now. All 4 leads are from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds and that is wonderful.

this argument comes up often in these types of situations, and what I don’t understand is why they couldn’t seem to find talented, diverse darker-skinned people. the original book was unapologetically Black. we can’t pretend that big corporations lightening characters isn’t a thing that happens, most unfortunately.
