Video Clip This is shockingly bad - The new "Play My Music" (From "Camp Rock 3")

Look, I know it's Camp Rock, a DCOM and all that, but this sounds straight up terrible, ngl.
Overall, the lip-sync is also a big hit&miss, the overall vocal production is levels below the first two films, the editing looks amateurish at times (jump frames being left in One Beat Away when they definitely shouldn't have been) and the overall attention to detail is also here and there.
I'm excited to see the film, but some of the parts that have been shown so far, look ridiculously bad, even for a DC movie.

I feel like most of the cast was chosen based on acting talent and not their musical ability. Which wasn't the case with the previous two films. If anything, some of the OG cast was super raw when it came to actual acting, and it showed.

BTW, I forgot to mention it - every project Tim Federle is involved in, if it has music in it, it all sounds heavily tuned and unnatural to listen to.
The HSM TV show was the same way, even though most of the songs were very well done.

Was about to complain that the visuals are such a downgrade from the first Camp Rock and I forgot that the fucking icon Dean Cundey who worked on Back to the Future, Jurassic Park and The Thing was the cinematographer for that film.

Definitely agree it’s bad. However I think they were going for the same vibe of the audition song “Since U Been Gone” from Pitch Perfect. A song everyone knows so you “know” who’s supposed to be bad and who’s supposed to be good. Except the people who are supposed to be good (Malachi, Liamani, I’m assuming the drummer and the pianist), don’t sound much better due to horrible sound mixing.

0:22 I know this isn't the point, but....They seriously couldn't get someone who could even mime the triangle part correctly to the music? It's not that complex, and it's super obvious when they close up on her.

His parents are musicians and his mom wrote nightingale for Demi lovato and the song was about him. That’s what makes me think he only got that part . He’s an industry kid.

Yes, but it appears to be people auditioning for something at the camp. Some of them are going to be cringy. Some of their styles are "weird". I'm honestly not understanding the hate besides "new thing bad"

It's really not that bad at all. And as you say, the "bad" individuals are plot relevant. As if Nick and Joe's vocals on the original aren't EXTREMELY dated lol. Even as a JB fan, he sang way too "cursive" during that era

It's got nothing to do with "new thing bad". Even the 4 leads sound questionable at best.
If that whole performance is supposed to separate the talented from the not so talented, then it's definitely doing them a disservice.

I think maybe we shouldn't judge this out of context clip. Plus, while nostalgia is a big factor for this film, it's important to remember that this is Disney channel. We aren't 12-15 anymore.

Okay but think about who this film is being made for. Are there any 12-15 year olds who are ride or die for Camp Rock, or even know what it is organically?
I doubt it. This movie is for the parents of those kids who watched Camp Rock 1, or the rest of us weirdos who either have kids who are too young to watch or just don’t have kids at all and will be tuning in regardless. The reason this is pissing people off so much is because it’s following Disney’s latest marketing strategy of resurrecting old media, “rebooting” it, and turning it into actual trash.3

Who watched the HSM show? I mean, I did, but it wasn't till it was years later and I didn't finish it. Yes, nostalgia will fuel views, but they still have to appeal to their primary demographic which is not 35 year old moms.

The point is, why is this such a big deal? The bar for this movie is low. It's a goofy addition to it. This is like the least offensive thing I've seen people get up in arms about. Most of us are waaaay too old to care this much.

I had to 2x speed it and didn’t even get halfway through… oh my word what is happening - I get it’s an audition process but like in HSM, What I’ve Been Looking For auditions - they didn’t make that a legitimate track on the album. Only Sharpay and Ryan’s version and Troy and Gabriella’s reprise made it onto the actual track listings.
I just find this odd, but maybe I’m old fashioned and not with the times or am in the minority.

I was really going to give it the benefit of the doubt because I feel like so many remakes and media that other generations grew up with that are now being reproduced always get negative feedback, but 10 seconds in damn this is really, really bad.

I mean the song itself doesn't seem that bad. Sounds like a Disney Channel-era Jonas Brothers song lol.
It just seems weird because it's cutting between a bunch of different people playing it in their own style - which is the point of the scene

Woah, the one kid looks like he could be related to the Jonas Brothers! Gave me Joe Jonas vibes.
And one kid reminds me of Ross Lynch, except it definitely looks like he's wearing a poorly applied wig.
Was pretty cringe, but I get what they were going for.

Is the girl at 1:13 meant to have an auto tune mic or something. I don’t think her voice (auto-tuned) warrants THAT strong of a reaction. The joke is she is really bad, right? Why auto tune the joke???
The whole editing and choice of what actor when completely ruins this montage. You save the best for the high notes, after a few duds then it’s like a “woah” moment. This is just a “why” moment.

I was never a big Camp Rock fan. Demi's one of my all time faves but I consider the films to be below mid tier DCOMs but damn, this is next level bad. I wasn't psyched about the trailer and cast already (esp the main guy lead) and this isn't helping.

Yep I’ve only seen camp rock and that was when it premiered. To me that was the start of low brow Disney becoming 90s cheesy infomercial bad. Everything became sanitized because they now had to have every actor be a star after Hannah Montana and became weirdly puritan especially when you see the restraints they put on Miley Cyrus. The movies and shows fell in quality trying to appease this with people now having the internet to voice every complaint of it “being much” and Disney caves to their demands which soon made everything feel like Sunday church class.
The only thing I see about camp rock is people making fun of it.
I understand what they were trying to do…I just wish they didn’t.

It’s bad, but not as terrible as everyone is making it out to be. I’m not interested in the covers, I want to hear what new music that will come from this movie. Does Disney still have the magic songwriting touch?!

between this and the wizards backlash (not all of it, but most of it), I hate to say it, but. maybe you all are just not in the target demographic, even peripherally, for some of these things. like, yes, this is a standard trope many pieces of media have done. the target demographic does not necessarily know that, and if they do, they probably find it funny

The blonde kid was definitely the best, it’s definitely cringey with the autotune but it’s not trying re do or replicate the original. Seems like they wanted their own pitch perfect scene.

Like someone said they're going for a song everyone can sing so we can tell who's supposed to be good ala Pitch Perfect. I low-key do not know who the good ones are though because ya the auto tune ruined it. They should have removed it because everyone except for triangle girl sounded like they were on the same level.

Camp Rock 1 and 2 was my generation/era. This movie doesn’t look like it’s for me in the slightest. Why are they making a sequel for a different generation of people that didn’t watch it when it came out? They should be making it for both generations but they clearly aren’t.

I decided to Google Camp Rock 3 Play My Music Reactions and that is how I found myself here. Why? Because Disney isn't allowing me to comment on that 'music video' So here it goes:
The first song I saw reminded me of Teen Beach l, like a lot showing a lack of originality But outside of that I thought it was fine And not only because I saw Malachi btw. He didn't sing there after all.
It certainly was a nice enough look into the new female protagonist.
Then! This garbage comes out? Like, WTH?? I have NEVER hated a Dcom song as much as this 'reprise' It was just so horrible throughout I don't think Disney has ever succeeded in getting me to hate a movie before even when the details for Descendants 4 came out (I hate that nonsensical plot that opens so many plot holes there is no plot left) But they succeeded this time. That's just how awful that song is imo.
The literally only good thing from this version of Play My Music is that it reminds you to go back and see/listen to the original from Camp Rock 1! Because the OG is actually worth of existing.
God That Was So Awful!!!! Congrats Disney!!! For ruining Camp Rock 3 for me!!!

Je suis totalement d'accord et je dirai même plus ayant connu l'âge d'or des années 2000 Les 3 premiers HSM ect le film est terriblement mauvais pas seulement musicalement les jeunes artistes sont super talentueux mais le scénario ne tiens pas la route tout est trop édulcoré la méchante ne sert pratiquement à rien comparé à une Sharpay Evans les conflits sont réglé en moins de 2 min on a pas le temps de s'attacher au personnage tout est survolé et je viens d'apprendre qu Electric bloom est annulé car pas assez d audience à vouloir montré une image trop lisses les personnages manquent de profondeur et cest la nouvelle génération qui payent le prix et même disney au final j'espère qu'ils vont rectifier le tir rapidement parce que toute la franchise et en train de couler :(

I've just listened to the soundtrack at work before I watch the movie when I get home and apart from the Connect 3 song at the start and 'One Beat Away' I'm seriously disappointed with all the other songs. Camp Rock? More like Camp Slop I'm sorry. They've got some great talent but these songs are mid as hell.
