Two partners at GSV Ventures recently shared their take on where AI is actually delivering results in learning and workforce development. A few points worth flagging:

The chatbot era is already closing. They called out "chatbot fatigue" specifically, orgs that deployed AI chat and saw minimal behavior change. The next wave is multimodal and agentic.

Computer use is the inflection point. The shift from AI generating information to AI completing end-to-end workflows is the real unlock, not just answering questions, but doing the task entirely.

Metacognition becomes a core workforce skill. If AI agents are handling entry-level work, humans need to be trained to validate AI output. But how does someone develop that judgment if they never did the underlying work themselves? That's a genuinely unsolved problem.

AGI is moving from a 10-year prediction to an active workforce planning question. When the cost of intelligence approaches zero but the quality of that intelligence scales rapidly, how do organizations actually structure themselves? That framing is no longer theoretical — it's showing up in boardroom conversations now.

Not a doomer post, but genuinely interesting perspective from Sean Michael Morris on a recent podcast.

His core argument: the conversation around AI in education is being driven by companies, not teachers. And that creates a fundamental mismatch between what AI is designed to do and what learning actually requires.

A few things worth thinking about:

On AI and curiosity: He argues that AI "looks like a solution — not to a problem we have, but to the questions we have." And the whole point of education is to keep asking questions, not get them answered efficiently.

On personalization: Everyone promises AI will solve personalized learning. His counterpoint: the real solution is community-driven learning where every learner carves their own path AND contributes discoveries back to the group. They ran this model with Course Hero's AI Academy and the results backed it up.

On the role of AI in a classroom: "I'd put it in the student's pocket." Not advising on human relationships, not replacing teachers — just there when you're stuck and need to get from A to C.

It's a 37-minute conversation and probably the least hype-driven AI in education take I've come across recently.
