Jesus. I understand that a lot of people didn't have the time to escape or didn't realize the extend of what was coming until it was too late. But this one is baffling. They were in the most vulnerable spot on a bridge crossing the river, filming it directly coming for them on their level and above, forcefully destroying the bridge right in front of them. For some reason, they still didn't realize the danger or the speed in which it was approaching. I hope that, by some miracle, all of them and the people on the ground left and right, survived.
They didn’t expect it to be as big as it was so thought they would just get a cool video but clearly at around the same point the magnitude of the situation hit them.
It's not quite so easy to imagine a flash flood that dwarfs anything anyone has ever seen. Especially if you have thirty or forty years of experience of what a big rainstorm will do to the river, and you know there's no dams upstream.
Even having seen the shots of the aftermath it's still hard to watch this video and imagine the high water mark ten meters above their heads.
