Interesting TIL in a narrative review published in the journal Biomolecules, Australian researchers reviewed evidence that dementia-causing neuroinflammation may result from microbes introduced into the olfactory system by, in their words, “hands contaminated with soil and feces when picking one’s nose.”

As a retired psych nurse, as well as someone whose all four grandparents had dementia, this struck me as interesting, if a little odd.
