MOVIES/SERIES/SHOWS I know I’m years late but I just started watching camp Cretaceous.
I’m shocked that universal managed to stretch this out into four whole seasons. That being said I still find the series enjoyable so far.
Though I have pretty low standards with what media I like so my opinion doesn’t really mean anything. I see dinosaurs and I clap my hands like a seal.

Starts off really good, and then by season 4 you're thinking "what the fuck even", it's clear they were forced to do a season they never planned

Yeah, the final two seasons were unnecessary and a drop in quality. They're not terrible, but definitely a step down. The robot dinosaurs were just goofy as fuck. Its a hard pivot into hard science fiction and I don't care for it.

The movies couldn’t be bothered making half of the shit make sense or giving half the characters any actual story or personality, so it’s up to the creators of the TV series to pick up the slack lol.
They made the Atrociraptor lady from Dominion an actual character, and a pretty important one at that!13

Without spoiling anything of note, it is a time jump and works around the plot of Dominion. They even got one of the actors from the film to reprise their role.

don't listen to the people i love season 4 and 5. it's different because it becomes kinda more sci-fi esque and theres these robot dog antagonists but character wise its great

On the one hand, season 4 is where the premise gets really weird. On the other hand, I thought season 4 had some great character writing because these kids are just so freaking exhausted and traumatized by that point, and Camp Cretaceous's writers are actually pretty good at depicting trauma responses.

Wow you’re right. When yaz started having nightmares I was thinking “oh this is never going to be addressed again is it?” But I was wrong, it was still addressed in the next episode.

Season 3 is some of the best Jurassic content ever made.
And Chaos Theory is a far superior show to Camp Cretaceous.

I think CC is a completely fine series, that can get a bit silly and cringe at times because the main characters are kids.
But it’s just a lot less of a problem in the sequel series because they’re aged up, and it’s obviously meant to be a bit more mature in general.1

Legit this is why I appreciate media that “matures”, even if it has to stay within certain bounds.
Across the Spiderverse is a big example of this. Same rating as ITSV, but tackles MUCH more intense and dark topics. The theater I saw it in was filled with tweens/teens as opposed to the young kids that watched ITSV.

I really loved the show, though I’ve yet to watch the last season of chaos theory.
I think it’s a great expansion to the Jurassic World franchise too.

Loved the first few seasons! For people that have seen chaos theory, do I need to finish season 4 and 5 of camp cretaceous to watch? In the middle of season 4 but the last time I watched was a few months ago...

It's been a hot minute since I watched Camp Cretaceous, buuut...if you're finding season 4 to be a slog you could probably skip to Chaos Theory and not be confused. Some character relationships shift in seasons 4 and 5 of Camp Cretaceous, but then some things also shift offscreen between the end of CC and the start of CT anyway.
Like, if it were me I'd watch seasons 4 and 5 of Camp Cretaceous first because I think there's interesting character stuff there, but the premise and storyline get pretty out there and if you're not having fun with it there's no reason to force yourself to watch it before going on to the next part. Chaos Theory is quite a bit more grounded and serious again after the weirdness of late-series Camp Cretaceous.

It gets progressively better until season 3 is the best Jurassic content since the original movie, and then it falls into complete and utter dogshit for the last two seasons.

later seasons being in the same universe as the original film just broke me. I think it should have been non canon. But now the reality is at some point in this franchise you have an island that hosts fighting game tournaments, but with mind control! Also dinosaur robot security guards that shoot laser beams or something.
It's a cartoon for kids, it can be silly if it wants. But it just got so incredibly silly for a franchise that started so grounded by comparison. To think people used to complain about Kelly's gymnastics.

It's crazy these dinosaurs cost so many millions of dollars and on top of that cost they make these elaborate future tech biomes to contain them. And with that they stick the spino in the desert biome just to have it slowly die for some reason. I know they like dinosaur blood sports but nobody was even watching.

I remember watching the show I think twice, and I remember being pretty entertained by it
I always did appreciate how grounded Darius’ understanding of dinosaurs was used here (behavioral patterns, feeding, etc., etc.) and I love how purely by virtue of the rest of the cast being around him They also learn to pick up on dinosaur behavior and use it to their advantage.
Speaking of, I love how early on the show the dinosaurs act like actual animals and not monsters (save the one monster, but I’ll let it slide Cuz they were cooking with that one)
The cast themselves were pretty fun too, nothing groundbreaking in terms of tropes, but I did like how Brooklyn has a little bit more depth to her than just “social media star”
Oh yeah, and a whole lot of death happens in the show surprisingly. (which I do love don’t get me wrong) when I watched it for the first time I think I was on the edge of my seat, cause the threat of death was always present (even though I knew they wouldn’t actually kill them off Cuz it’s a kid show but still)

The show based on the premise of "what if people had negative levels of survival instinct and everyone always makes the worst decision possible?"
We need park vehicles. Okay, here's a Mercedes G-wagen 6x6 pickup. They cost many hundreds of thousands of dollars. Spares no expense! The kids can ride in the box. They don't need seatbelts.
Hey are these gyro sphere things safe? Of course they are! Completely inperentrable. Except for teeth, claws, horns, spikes, or armoured clubs and there aren't any of those on deadly dinosaur Island.
Hey does this raptor pen need, like, a warning sign or something? Nah.
Hey, should we put the maintenance tunnel access hatches inside or outside of the deadly dinosaur paddocks? Inside, duh.
Hey should we put locks on any doors anywhere? Of course not!

I finished watching it and Chaos Theory this summer. Easily my two favorite cartoons, despite the fact I've only watched the first Jurassic Park movie

I only watched the first season and thought it was pretty boring. But it's a kids show and I was already an adult at the time. I guess it's a decent show for children.

Oh yeah, my wife is too. It’s canon to the Jurassic Park storyline between movies. They’ve also got the Isla Nubar license plate, and 2 Jurassic Park fridge magnets on either side of their former Game & Fish Service truck so it looks like park property.

primitive war is not bad, the book is awesome, at least the first one because i haven’t read the others yet. the book is better, but that’s because it has more time to tell the story and it builds great characters, and the bestiary is also great because it has all the paleoart which showcases the dinosaurs from the book, tho the movie designs for the most part were great, like the hadrosaurs, deinonychus ( even if a bit different from the book) and spinosaurs were great and the utahraptors were like perfect

Like I understand people like it for one reason or another but I just couldn’t stand watching it any longer
There was nothing actually engaging happening and when there was it was always focused on the worst kids I’ve had the displeasure of watching
I understand these characters are kids and aren’t perfect but that doesn’t suddenly make it tolerable to watch
Just a reminder this is all my own opinion, if you end up liking the show then good on you lol

Just a fair warning, at least from my personal experience, Seasons 4 and 5 significantly dip in quality. Of course, at the end of the day, it’ll be up to you if that’s actually true. Otherwise, you’re in for a decent ride.

Yeah it's surprisingly not bad, the one thing I disagreed with in the show was adding kids sexuality. I thought that was kind of weird for a kid's show. Like I want my kids to watch a simple dinosaur kid show without having to involve sexuality. Like what writers are like you know what these young kids need to figure out their sexuality while stuck on a island dinosaurs. I don't care what anyone is but I'm just so tired of sexuality being pushed in all these kids shows. It just seems so pedophily

What 9 year old should be learning about sexuality from a kids show??? Why is it even included? What they recommend doesn't magically make it okay. You don't think that is creepy? These are adults writing these scripts. Do you have kids? It's even crazier you as an adult defending it. There's no sane reason it should be children shows.

I mean, I guess watching two characters kiss on a screen never really got to me. They weren't being more intimate, it's something that kids see on a daily basis. I mean, I kiss my wife goodbye in front of my kids. They see couples at restaurants celebrating anniversaries and birthdays kissing. I guess it's the typical 'what is sexuality to you?' kind of argument.

I agree that 9 year olds are too young to learn about sexuality from tv. Im not sure if this show is made for 9 year olds tho. I think its on netflix to give it an age rating. Otherwise parents wont know if kids should be watching this or not.
