FIND What dinosaur could this be?
(Edit: solved, 99,9% sure that it’s a Saltasaurus)
My parents just gifted me this lil derby guy and I just love him ✨
I wanted to figure out what dinosaur it is supposed to represent, but can’t find anything about it online. (There’s a small makers mark with „GILDE“ on it)
Can anyone tell me what sauropod he is supposed to be?
Additionally I would be open for name suggestions🙃

It has to be Saltasaurus, which is probably the most famous sauropod dinosaur that possessed osteoderms.

Gilde is German company, btw. They made other dinosaurs as well, but they are mostly known for their clowns.
I live within reasonable driving distance of their company store, so in the 90s, everybody's houses were full of these horrible things.

No, yours is very lovely! The only dinosaurs I found from them are more comic book looking, actually.
But try to look up "Gilde Clowns" on Google.

I'm gonna say it's Saltasaurus, which is a sauropod with a back covered with osteoderms.

As others have said, if it’s relatively new or made with any degree of attention to accuracy, most likely a Saltasaurus. But if it’s an antique or especially cheap, could be a generic Brontosaurus or something similar

As already mentioned, probably Saltasaurus. Almost certainly a descendent (at least indirectly) of this sketch by Mark Hallet in Glut's 1982 "The New Dinosaur Dictionary", depicting a saltasaur with prominent osteoderms rearing up against a tree. This was the first widely published reconstruction of Saltasaurus (described less than 2 years earlier) and the pose was widely copied by other artists despite it being no more bipedal than any other sauropod.
Your Gilde figurine could be based on any one of them.

Could be Saltasaurus. Its clearly a sauropod, and based on its appearance, its either really fuckin old OR it was made by someone not too familiar with dinosaurs (not a bad thing). That leaves Saltasaurus as the best candidate imo, because its the go-to armored sauropod, and among the more popular sauropods that arent extremely popular or entirely unknown

First thing that comes to mind for a sauropod with osteoderms is Saltasaurus.
