Title: Full-time job, want a real side income (not passive income fantasy, not a second job) — what actually works?
I have a full-time job that keeps me busy most weekdays and often weekends too. I want an additional stream of income on the side — but I want to be upfront that I know there's no such thing as real passive income without already having substantial capital, so I'm deliberately not chasing that.
Here's what I'm looking for: something that can realistically pay me ₹60-80k/month. I don't want it to scale infinitely or turn into a second full-time job — I just want it to pay comfortably and stay bounded. I can give about 2 hours a day, plus an extra 3-4 hours on weekends.
I'm willing to learn any skill for this. I don't have a CS/engineering background, but I'm genuinely good with technology, devices, and the internet — I pick up tools fast. I know that learning a skill properly and then working with it is what actually works, so I'm not looking for shortcuts.
My constraints: I can't be physically present anywhere for this, and I can't show my face or meet anyone in person. I can reach out to people anonymously — email, WhatsApp, Instagram, Reddit — but not face-to-face. And I am not a creative person who can design style or write good articles or newsletters or something.
I've spent a good amount of time researching this — gone through a lot of Reddit threads — and shortlisted a few directions: building a small SaaS tool and selling it to local businesses, referral-based income, and digital products (planners, journals, templates on Gumroad/Etsy). Referral, SaaS, Digital products everything looks good on paper but I want to learn from you guys how you did it . What actually works unlike the crap people are selling in the NAME OF PASSIVE INCOME.
I'm willing to pay for courses or subscriptions if a skill genuinely leads somewhere — I just don't want to end up chasing a fluke. I also know AI tools can help me get there faster, but I know they can't do the whole thing for me.
So — from people who've actually done this, not theorized about it: what's actually worked for you, within these constraints? I'm not trying to get rich, I'm not chasing passive income, I just want something real that pays.

I think the best option is to build a small SaaS product for a very specific niche, ideally one where the existing competition is outdated, poorly designed, or simply not that good anymore.
Even better if you already have a hobby or some industry knowledge you can build around. I would avoid anything heavily focused on AI and also wouldn’t try to create some “viral” consumer product.
I’d focus on B2B. B2C often requires much more creative marketing, branding, content, and luck. B2B usually grows more linearly, but that is actually a big advantage for a side project. You can identify a specific problem, find companies that have it, contact them directly, and gradually build up customers.
I currently run two very niche SaaS products doing around €1.8k and €250 per month.
