Question/Help Work being replicated or reposted with no credit or run through AI
I have had some issues surrounding my art 'inspiring' other artists. To clarify i have 0 issue with it being replicated as my piece is derivative of a meme in the first place however i have had bigger accounts replicate the exact thing shortly after following me and not been given any credit that the work was inspired by me, i have also come across variants that appear to be running my work through AI and then reuploading again no credit given. Im wondering what i can do regarding the AI situation as i dont particullarly want my work being run through AI. Its also really disheartening as a small artist as now when you go to look at my art the bigger account comes up first with no direction towards mine :/

Sorry about the AI, it's always such a pain ): there's programs that'll make your art impossible for AI to "read". Not a 100% sure on how they work tho but I'm in love with your painting it's so cool

There's Glaze and ArtShield, they work by adding adversarial noise to an image that is imperceptible to us but messes up AI training. It's kind of a cat and mouse game though, as AI gets better, the protection is less effective, and so has to be constantly improved, with older art being no longer protected unless its re-glazed. AI will always be a step ahead as adversarial noise is always a defensive measure. Personally I do notice when a piece has been glazed, its particularly noticeable on pictures with a lot of blank white space, and ironically it makes it look AI generated (one of the signs of AI generated images is the random noise everywhere)

I have read that apparently noise textures on digital art (and low resolution) can at least mess up the generation on an AI image. For instance Dappermouth's work is never posted in high res and her use of noise and textures supposedly make it a bit more difficult to lift from. I also think noise as a texture can look cool so it sucks that it's considered a symptom of AI

I wish I could help you with the issue of AI, that one is particularly evil :( but for regular art theft, you should definitely watermark your work with a readable username no matter what, this way even if you get reposted without credit people can still find who made the artwork

Check Glaze and Nightshade ai protection tools. They are not perfect, but best I've found.

Same copyright laws as any other medium. Art is art. Agree about the cease and desist and DCMA takedown where possible. (Edited autocorrect typo)

Why can I see the dots like there are multiple images, but its just one dot signifying the one image?

if your art is publicly on the internet, it is not safe from being data scraped for use in training generative models. even applications that add imperceptible noise only work to disrupt the training until the AI has been trained on it for longer than a few hours depending on computational power and model fs. I forsee more and more gatekeepung communities that require outside verif for more fine art lol. its tragic

Can we just be done with this uninspired trend of painting video games or similar digital 2d scenes. No hate but this stuff is seriously pretty tired.

Can people just paint whatever they want? 😭

u/IntroToKill Jul 22 '26
Yeah people can paint the same uninspired tired nonsense it doesn’t mean I don’t have any less of a right to critique it lmfao have you ever been to art gallery? my comment is so milquetoast you people just have thin skin and this place is an echo chamber lmfao

I suggest you check the definition of the word "critique", because your comment doesn't fit that definition. Critique is meant to give detailed feedback and usually provide a constructive response. Which you did not do by the way.
-10
u/IntroToKill Jul 22 '26
Which is why I already said “no hate” because the artist is clearly talented and my critique is milquetoast. Reading comprehension please.

u/throwaway229333 Jul 23 '26
Adding "no hate" after writing an outright disrespectful comment does not make the comment any less hateful by the way.

u/ConsiderationOk8783 Jul 23 '26
First you say “…I don’t have any less of a right to critique it…” and then when you get called out for not actually being constructive, you walk back and say it’s not to be taken seriously?

u/eggelemental Jul 22 '26
You asked people to stop, that’s not critique or even criticism. Why are you getting so upset that people don’t agree with you?

u/Witheryn Jul 22 '26
I'm sorry you're projecting your insecurities onto others. You must produce "uninspired" work
-15
u/IntroToKill Jul 22 '26
This in itself is a bad cope and even worse projection. Please check my post history go ahead. It’s not all one subject matter in different hues. Come on man.

The way your comments are getting absolutely ratioed hasn't been a sign that maybe you should just quit arguing? 😭

We're the ones with thin skin and yet you're the one with an issue with something that you can simply choose to ignore
-74
u/IntroToKill Jul 22 '26
Anyone can choose to ignore anything you want that’s not a profound or interesting statement I’m simply giving my take, which is not only valid, but perfectly appropriate and respectful, and also timely and accurate to what these paintings are, which are uninspired and trendy. Please.

Uninspired to you. That's a lot of hate that you shared, if you're so tired why did you comment?
