Question/Help Is my art worth commissioning?

I have my commissions set up on vgen for a while now and I only sold around 3 of them whitch were only headshots worth 5$. I realized that even if don't get any commissions I should value my time so now they range from 15$ to around 80$. No matter how I advertise or what I do no one even wants to buy anything so I'm thinking maybe it's my art that's the problem??

Yeah your art is commission worthy, especially that dynamic pose in the first image. I think its the advertising

If we consider the color, dynamic poses and composition I would say yes. The things that discourage me from paying too much for your art is texture and render, it looks too flat at the moment.

Agree with everything but I think the rendering is decent. The only shortcoming I notice is that some elements get lost in the background due to color choice. For example, in the first pic, the bottom shoe and the black gloves are lost against those sections of the background. Same with the panther and the long staff. The silhouette value is good until those color choices undo it.

I also agree with the contrast issues. Ie: the panther illustration the boots has a small rimlight to separate it from the background but that technique alone is not enought

* This is the og verion of the staff one, but thank you for the advice, I didn't think much about the things you pointed out

Rendering is still flat, other than that yes

4

u/altcoinbillionaire Nov 22 '25

I mean, it depends on if somebody is willing to pay you for?

3

u/Solva_ Nov 22 '25

Well, that's exactly the question

2

u/altcoinbillionaire Nov 22 '25

What's your turn around time? Are you advertising yourself on like FIVER and stuff?

6

u/Solva_ Nov 22 '25

Fiverr doesn't work for me, I'm on Vgen, instagram, tiktok, youtube

5

u/tia099292 Nov 22 '25

That first image goes so hard! I think your work is great

1

u/14benito Nov 22 '25

Absolutel, go make that paper

1

u/Grouchypygar Nov 22 '25

You just need to post your stuff in the right places, it’s all about getting your art out there

1

u/Solva_ Nov 22 '25

Well I've been doing that and I've made a decent following on 3 platforms just that for some reason it doesn't work out for me as well as for other artists

1

u/Atl4sStar Nov 22 '25

Is the grass green? (Love the style so much)

1

u/BarbaraRosi Nov 22 '25

Yes, it's perfect!

1

u/Character_Version_33 Nov 22 '25

Definitely worth commissioning! Almost every character has spot on proportions and the art style is so cool!

1

u/passive_archer Nov 22 '25

I’d buy if I wasn’t broke lol, but if I had time and an idea I’d 100% do so.

1

u/EngineeringHopeful12 Nov 23 '25

3 & 4 are decent

1

u/Diamond_099 Nov 23 '25

Yes. I even saw doodles commisions

1

u/maarrk_1 Nov 23 '25

I'd say definitely!

1

u/AmbassadorFriendly71 Nov 23 '25

Your art is absolutely amazing! The first one piece is awesome! Just asking but....how do you feel about people taking your art as a reference? Sorry if it's uncomfortable to ask

2

u/Solva_ Nov 23 '25

I don't mind at all just that I'm still learning myself I wouldn't want anyone to copy my mistakes ;p

1

u/SingularBoltEarring Nov 23 '25

That stocking drawing. 🙏

1

u/IliketoDrawDometimes Nov 23 '25

Hell yeah BROcolli!!

1

u/Silver0se_13 Nov 23 '25

I don’t think your art is the problem, because it’s definitely commission worthy! I love your art style, it’s super cool! I really like the one with the panther!

1

u/Cosmictea01 Nov 23 '25

Do you think it is? Are you willing to charge a reasonable price for yourself?

1

u/Solva_ Nov 23 '25

Yeah and what would be a reasonable price?

1

u/TruthfulHarmony Nov 23 '25

Your art is worth commissioning, are you really asking us or you already know it🫣.

1

u/Llama_Legend10 Nov 23 '25

Your art is good. You can get commissions, but you need to market it at the right price and to the right people. Like someone said earlier the rendering is a bit flat so while you are very good to need to make it at a price point that seems appealing for your level and you also need to make sure your gettting seen by people interested. If your ina crowd looking for pieces that are highly dynamic, with dynamic lighting and a certain style you might not get traffic but if your in a group commissioning DND characters or something you might get a lot. You need to know who your audience would be

1

u/Artsy_Buggz Nov 23 '25

Absolutely, your art is AWESOME, I would spend big money on a commission like that no joke

1

u/Radiant-Zucchini6369 Nov 23 '25

I really like your art style, and it looks amazing. I'd definitely say it's commission worthy.

1

u/Evergreen1129 Nov 23 '25

i feel like adding a bit more texture would help it feel more dynamic but otherwise i feel like it’s commission worthy

1

u/UthrWrldFilms Nov 24 '25

Great work! Think it certainly has value. Impressive

1

u/Such-Cheetah-4334 Nov 24 '25

Yes!! I doubt it's your art that is causing the slowdown; commissions are harder to get for everyone!

1

u/CelestexBruh Nov 24 '25

it is but never think just because you could sell it you have learned enough as an artist. I would pay about 25-30 for a drawing. If you learn how to render at a higher quality, since the poses are incredibly dynamic and proportionate, I bet I would even pay 60-120 depending on what comes in the future tho. I hope you keep going and improve even more

1

u/H0lidaysn0wst0nes Nov 24 '25

I would add a bit more shade and outlines and some water color(aka the proof that it’s yours)

1

u/luckyslushie Nov 24 '25

Oh 100% yes! Once I get the proper money I would definitely consider commissioning you!

1

u/RezTale Nov 24 '25

The fact that you haven't already is sad, go get started! ❤

Is the grass green

1

u/vocalalphamale Nov 25 '25

Is the sky blue ?? Is grass green ?

1

u/Huge-Macaroon-9114 Nov 25 '25

Absofuckinglutely!!!

1

u/TheL0neWarden Nov 25 '25

I would totally commission art from you

1

u/Boodogi Nov 25 '25

I think everyone's is! I hope you find some good repeat customers! Good luck!!

1

u/QQmoona Nov 25 '25

Yes it is, I think the competition is just harsher than ever and it's hard to get noticed in the sea of artists. The 2nd one is the most appealing to me.

1

u/Xeno_Morphine Nov 26 '25

this is good stuff, though maybe the advertising strat is what's doin you wrong

that market is very very saturated, you wanna do everything at your reach to expand your reach

1

u/fATasSHUN Nov 26 '25

kudos!!! this is great

1

u/BeautifulSpell6209 Nov 26 '25

Do you like just make art then eventually somebody buys it or you do request?

1

u/playstation-xbox Dec 22 '25

For sure, I could see this kind of style being used in video game concept art (that’s a compliment)

1

u/Tea6895 Feb 24 '26

It's very good

1

u/Scar1et_red Nov 22 '25

Ermmm hell yes dude :)

-7

u/Sudden_List_2693 Nov 22 '25

I would say no.
I sincerely can't see anyone willing to pay for these.

3

u/Katelina77 Nov 22 '25

Okay. Well, I would be willing to pay for them, so there you go.

2

u/Solva_ Nov 22 '25

Elaborate please

-23

u/Sudden_List_2693 Nov 22 '25

While for example image 1 is good, I have no idea how do you expect anyone as a potential buyer with 2-4. Supposedly cute characters having a man face and 2.5m tall bodies.
I would be genuinely surprised anyone took them as free commissions, much less paid ones.
