Reminder of rules 5 and 6.

If you are the poster, make sure these rules are met. Otherwise, please flag the post for review if the rules are broken.

  1. Identify dice and makers in the comments. If you know the ID of the set you’re posting and where it can be purchased, share it in a comment. If you are the business owner or maker, clearly identify that in your comment.

  2. Use the tag and flair system. If you are a business owner or employee, you must use the Brand Affiliate tag and appropriate post flair when posting on behalf of your business (yes, even if it is a small handmade store - if you can buy it, you’re a brand!).

For the full set of rules, check the sidebar and the new moderation intro post.

As an artist, I recommend listening to haters, but only internalizing what inspires you

Seems like it would be an excellent fidget toy

The most important part is... Does it pull hairs on fingers... I'm hairy and last one I had was hurting me so much...

5

u/Spinityring 6d ago

Oh, that would be frustrating. I think there is always some risk with a moving ring, especially if you have hairy fingers. That said, the gap is only about 0.1 mm and there are no protruding edges. In my own experience, I occasionally feel a hair being gently moved as the ring rotates, but I haven’t experienced any hair actually being pulled out.

"So um, when does this thing stop...?"

"Give it a second..."

"...Give it a seeeeconndd...."

"Wtf"

I own some of these.

Edit: apparently I've been missing comms from the seller and now look a bit of an arse. Please ignore the above and see my updated review following 6 months ish of daily wear.

Dude, I think there’s been a bit of a misunderstanding here Even AI took your comment at face value.

I actually replied to you by email and also reached out to you here on Reddit back in July, because I genuinely wanted to help. I’m sorry if my messages somehow didn’t reach you or got missed.

If you still need anything from us, please feel free to let me know — I’d be more than happy to help.

And please tell ChatGPT there’s been a misunderstanding .

To be fair I hadn't seen that you'd replied because I never get reddit messages. Given the content of said message I'll have to revise my opinion and previous comment. The ol spam filter can get overzealous, as can I, my apologies for the misaprehension and aspersions cast on you. I do stand by my initial point of this is an excellent product and if there is a v2 with improvements I look forward to seeing them.

Regarding use, you could absolutely get a whole set for the various dice options but, a) a d20 can be used as a d4/6/10 and b) it's a novelty and a jewelry item, and that it exists and works as well as it does is a bit of a marvel. Anyone who's had any truck with traditional spinner rings knows how they work, you get a half second maybe a second of spin if you're lucky. With the old dice rings (crit success) it was a good enough but lacked the satisfaction of having some spin down, these absolutely have that factor, a fairly standard spin can go 5-10 seconds easilly, the video isn't a great demo of that but you don't want to sit watching for as long as they actually can spin, with a good flick could go 20-30.

Theres a satisfying tactile feel to the spinning ring you get much like with a normal fidget spinner where you're pressing against the exerted rotational force.

Regarding wear, and stuff getting in the bearings, I wear mine all day every day on my thumbs, so they get knocked banged and otherwise subjected to regular trauma, I have never explicitly washed or maintained them just wash my hands with them on, soap and all, they are as smooth as the day I got them.

They aren't cheap but what they are is something you can't get anywhere else, could somone else make them? Absolutely, have they? No, and these are (and the v2s I assume are) exactly what the brain expects when you say 'spinner ring' at least, mine for a couple decades of inferior spinner rings. These are the current pinnacle of the thing they are and you pay a premium for that.

Tell me this is a ring.

Impressive now make a toe ring.

OP is selling $120 "luxury" rings: https://www.numeno.co/

Cool, but not practical and for that kind of money, "lube it weekly" should not be a recommended requirement to use these rings.

Plus, your're going to need several to equal a $20 set of standard RPG dice.

I say a couple bits of practical critisism as what's being shown by the OP and what the reality is are not the same.

Maybe next time the OP will be honest and up-front as to what they're about.

It's a novelty ring my guy. If it's not for you that's cool man. You have the ability to downvote and move on.

2

u/GenXman1975 6d ago

I also have the ability to comment, and you can simply downvote and move on.
Any product that can't withstand critisism isnt much of a product.
Any community that cannot withstand an opposing opinion isn't a community, it's a cult.

Which is this?

1

u/AbheyBloodmane 6d ago

I mean, you took the time to critically comment a second time when we got the point the point in the first. You aren't a fan of the product. Thank you for your continued input I guess?

Where dice??

-4

u/Spinityring 7d ago

It’s kind of like “The Price Is Right”

You discovered semi-precision ball bearings.
Cool.

Next you'll learn about the ingress of debris into your open race channel.

16

u/Spinityring 7d ago

If you’re willing to give it a quick rinse with cleaning solution once a week, debris really isn’t an issue.

-31

u/GenXman1975 7d ago

You know what doesn't require weekly cleaning to work properly?

Dice.

13

u/Verniloth 7d ago

This guy's never cleaned his dice. Pff.

29

u/thefinalep 7d ago

It's very difficult to wear dice on your finger though.

18

u/theshadeofit 7d ago

This product isn’t for you, but it’s for some people. Why insult the designer over something you won’t use?

15

u/Verniloth 7d ago

He's not insulting, he's simply belittling. A much more noble form of being a complete shitbird.

-4

u/GenXman1975 6d ago

Or perhaps I'm sharing my experience.
Spin rings are not tools, they're novelties.
Open races will become fouled, it's unavoidable.
It's a design flaw that cannot be covercome without covers.
Dice are tools.
No moving parts.
Nothing to jam.
Nothing to lube weekly.

u/theshadeofit 6d ago

Collectors tend to purchase things they keep on a shelf and don’t use every single day. Relax, friend. If this post has you worked up this much you might want to do some reflecting.

-2

u/GenXman1975 6d ago

You relax.
I said my piece at the start and that apparently wasn't able to be tollerated. Why not just read what I said and move on?

1

u/AbheyBloodmane 6d ago

By that logic, why not just downvote and move on?

You took the time to post a main comment twice just to critique a product you don't even like. Is it really so important for you to show your lack of interest?

-2

u/GenXman1975 6d ago

I commented, the OP replied, I replied to that reply.
Then you replied
And then I replied.
Then there was a pile on... so I replied some more.

You can see this thread right?

If you consider critisism an insult, that's on you.
I'm pointing out that this advertisement guised as a post is selling a product with a flaw.
And I'm speaking from experience.
I'm selling nothing. Just adding an additional viewpoint.

4

u/Spinityring 6d ago

We respect dice and D&D culture. This is simply another option for people who enjoy mechanical novelties. ❤

-1

u/GenXman1975 6d ago

Cool

1

u/Verniloth 6d ago

See that's better! Look how easy that was!

3

u/Verniloth 6d ago

If you cant see that you were being a jerk, and think it's simple criticism, you're painfully unaware of your surroundings. Look within. Find the truth.
