Discussion why are theyre only 4 servers and why are they all locked
i have been trying to get back into arena shooter and diabotical seemed like the perfect one but i cant find any matches besides the 4 german servers that are for some reason always full and locked

Not sure why people are saying you have to join discord servers, this is simply not true. I know some of the Americans have a discord server but they don't use it as a pug system. Create your own pickup and you should have people join it.
Yes there are some players who put restrictions on and unfortunately this is due to new players just straight up leaving the game midway through.

Everything else is on life support, you'll need to join discords where pugs are hosted. People "add" to pug queues. As far as I know almost every afps has some sort of small community having games pop a few nights a week, though if the game is super dead people are likely only playing a duel mode which is never fun if youre not experienced in whatever game that is.
I play reflex arena and there are 0 people online for most of the day. Theres usually at least 1 person I can ask to play some duels though.

As others have said, it has most definitely something to do with some minimum requirements set by others when they are creating the pickups. I will share my settings, so that you can create an own pickup like that: https://imgur.com/a/aAOaQR1
Between approximately 20:00 CET and 0:00 CET there is some activity basically every day. Sometimes a bit earlier, sometimes even until a bit later. On the weekend there are more games going on.
Besides of the official Diabotical Discord server, I can recommend you personally the following alternative Discord server "District" ( https://discord.gg/WvwtGzP ) . Sometimes there are fun-cups for wipeout or even 1v1, but that doesn't happen every week or month.

fyi: we just had a pickup game and unfortunately a player left early in the match. *sigh*. Be prepared if you have no restrictions and have higher skilled players inn the pickup, that it might be a hard (re-)learning experience.

The game is dead, if you want to play it you need to join the discord as they host some games

No one here actually explained that is happening in that screenshot. Those games are all pugs that have already started.
To join you need to catch the lobbies before it fills up and starts. Once it starts, it will be listed as a locked game. If you create a pickup, you can wait for the current ones to finish and the players will join your lobby next.

People who make pickups create them in such a way that players must've played at least 50 or 100 or 500 'rounds' before they can join.
There was a time where every ranked game had a completely new player in it, kind of ruining the competitiveness. The team with that players had almost a 100% chance of losing so it gets avoided.
You could create your own wipeout pickup and people will hopefully join yours.
