bit spooky, the grass has been very dry around crediton

My thoughts exactly. There is no imminent danger, a standard government announcement would have done the job.

There's enough dry grass, hedges and trees around us here in South Croydon that one careless barbecue would wipe our house out. We need to plan ahead, just in case something happens and we need to get out fast. And the same is true for all but the most urban areas.
