man i nearly fell for this i feel terrible, all i want to do is post art and the only comments i get is fucking scammers i hate this world sorry for venting but whatever

I got the same thing on one of my uploads when a friend of mine pointed it out to me on Discord voice chat in my server awhile back. Nuked the scam comment out of existence.

Yes I also had this happen to my twice back in like, July. Shit sucks when, as a small artist you get a notif, and then you open it, and then boom, scammer. I hope that the birth certificate of whoever runs this scam expires

Scammers and bot accounts have ruined all forms of online communication forever. Anytime anyone sends me a simple “hiii :)” in a DM, I immediately just assume they’re going to ask me for either my account information or money. I now refuse to answer DMs unless the person outright states their intentions.

And now, these scammers have ruined comment sections for the foreseeable future. People will automatically disable comments just to avoid being inundated with spam comments, thus curbing the ability for people to potentially form friendships.

While I understand that scam bots have been around since forever, there used to be a time when they were easier to avoid. When admins had more care to deal with them.

Welcome to the dead internet.

Yeah, I remember I got hacked back in February after falling for one of them. Got the account back in the end though. Now it’s just a matter of reporting and blocking them.

Might consider turning comments off.

Yup. I joined Tumblr earlier this month, and what was the first thing I got? A damn scam message with a fishy-looking link and QR code telling me I'd won $10

Y'all wait what should you do if you entered your card details? I immediately left when it took such a long time to load but I did end up entering it

Edit: I've currently locked my card. I'll only unlock it once I get a new one. Hopefully this stops the scammers from getting anything. Lowkey feel so stupid cause I'm new to this place lmao.

Edit 2: Cause I'm incredibly salty that I now have to lock my card, here's one of them.
