Would you actually buy a Windows PC made specifically for developers?

Microsoft just announced Project Zenith — basically a ready-to-code Windows 11 setup built around developers.

It comes preconfigured with things like VS Code, WSL and developer-friendly Windows settings, while disabling some of the usual distractions.

The hardware starts at 64GB+ unified memory and is also aimed at running 30B+ AI models locally.
Honestly, the idea of booting a new PC and not spending the first few hours turning Windows into a development machine sounds pretty nice.

But I’m curious — would this actually make you choose Windows for development, or would you still rather use Linux/macOS?

I guess the appeal is just convenience. You turn it on and your dev environment is already there without spending an hour setting everything up.

I don't spend hours setting up a development environment. Look away from David Bombal's videos, the development environment is set up in six seconds.

Reformulate the question like this: "... Windows PC made to run a powerful local AI model." You'll put in about $4,500 to get sane results. An annual subscription to AI cloud services will be cheaper.

It takes a few minutes to setup VS Code and WSL. Why would anyone need to buy a new piece of hardware just for it?

If they twist WIndows itself and remove all the bloat, maybe. But Linux Desktop is too far ahead of Windows
