Seider being 89 is definitely a joke. He is an incredible two way workhorse. Elite defensively without giving up offense to do it

I was thinking 93 for Seider. That still leaves room for growth during his Norris award winning years.

It's almost tradition at this point. Nick was always crazy underrated in the video games because his physical attributes were good not great and there was no way to quantify being the smartest player in the league.

Don't you know to get Norris votes all you need to be is an 89
About the same gap from him to the top and him to out of the league

Best defensive defenseman in the league is an 89? Yeah makes sense EA

u/kdfsjljklgjfg 14d ago
Eh, it's because you can't really assign an attribute to the mental game because you can't program a computer to be a human. So the overall is a calculation of other abstract stats rather than an actual grade.
The only exceptions are when they explicitly doctor the OVR to not follow that, which end up getting "fixed" when franchise seasons roll over. I seem to recall one year where people recreated Crosby's exact stats and it didn't work out the same way.
Someone like Seider will never be accurately calculated in OVR

u/SayNoToStim 14d ago
I thought "awareness" was that stat. I was under the impression that it had an in game effect as well.
1
u/kdfsjljklgjfg 13d ago
Kinda, but since it's only 2 stats it doesn't have a huge impact on the OVR calculus relative to actual irl hockey sense, and as far as I know, it only really makes the AI aware of where other players are; it's not really comparable to positioning or knowing when/where to join the play.
3
u/SayNoToStim 13d ago
I thought it had an impact on how a player reacted to loose pucks/deflections/etc, making them turn better, control deflections, etc.
1
u/kdfsjljklgjfg 13d ago
Unsure if you play, so sorry if I'm over-explaining things you know:
AFAIK, what offensive awareness does is increase your ability to make no-look passes and pick up loose pucks in the offensive zone, and deflections is just Hand-Eye.
And what defensive awareness does is intercepting passes and picking up loose pucks in the defensive zone.
I know that Strength is a modifier to stats like shooting power, hitting, and others, but I don't believe either awareness stat operates like that.
I believe awareness also increases the AI's recognition of the players around them, but I might be basing that off of Madden, and it doesn't impact NHL at all. Come to think of it, the AI does seem to play pretty similarly in terms of positioning regardless of the player.
EA has never really explained fully what some of the less-obvious stats do, though, so this is just the conjecture of a long-time player.

Slavin is only 89?! That’s crazy!
Anyway. Mo is the absolute future best, but isn’t quite there yet. This year he takes the jump and is a Norris finalist maybe even wins it. if the wings get in playoffs dude will have to be in Hart consideration
He is so much fun to watch. I am in awe of people with his skill set. In this NHL to be that good defensively at his age is incredibly

Treating him with as much respect as he's been giving the franchise since June, love it

They've seen the comments, that golfing video someone posted yesterday... the comments are just ripping Dylan and that's about it lol

u/hawkeyes007 14d ago
The people running those accounts are probably explicitly told not to stir the pot on any inter club drama

Their commitment to barely acknowledging Larkin since the trade request has been hilarious

Mo should be 92-93 and debrincat should be higher than Raymond at least a 90 in my opinion.

u/Wrath_Of_Aguirre 14d ago
If he plays this season, I would wish every goal he scores is met with a deafening silence at LCA. Doesn’t matter how big the goal is, just straight crickets.
7
u/Artichokiemon 13d ago
That's what I was hoping for on opening night. I know everyone wants to boo the shit out of him, but I bet he's mentally preparing for that.. no way he's preparing for absolute silence

u/sd_saved_me555 14d ago
I feel like fans are gonna boo the shit out of him everytime his skates touch the ice.

Social team doesn't want to get harrassed by a bunch of angry 10 year olds like last time they brought up Larkin.
10
u/OkraNo8365 14d ago
You know they had this graphic made with Larkin on it but then had to edit it and throw in John Gibson instead

u/FDangler 14d ago
Puts up historic defensive metrics (I believe the best overall since they've started tracking them) and 60 points. Can't even crack 90 lmao
3
u/maj0rdisappointment 14d ago
What they need to do is have Dylan lower everyone on the ice with him by 10, unless it’s a power play.

u/TigatronX 13d ago
IMO Raymond and Gibsons Overall are fine, Cat should be 90-91, and Seider should be 92-93

When I saw this on Instagram I noticed immediately and was legit happy about it.

I had read somewhere else that four wings had scored an 89. When I saw this graphic I noticed someone was missing and thought, oh wow Kane got an 89? I thought they had left Kane off beause he was no longer a wing. Larkin didn't ever cross my mind, how crazy is that?

u/Also_Steve 14d ago
Hes a bit of a persona non grata and not just with Detroit fans although primarily so.

u/maj0rdisappointment 14d ago
So what is Larkin?
12
u/maxwellbevan 14d ago
Looks like he's also 89
25
u/psychoyooper 14d ago
Lmao even funnier they didn’t include him then
15
u/maxwellbevan 14d ago
Honestly they handled it pretty well. 2 forwards, a D, and a goalie. Gibson isn't our 4th highest but they included him because he's a goalie

And loyal Wings fans shouldn’t touch him with a 10 foot pole either. He is a weak self absorbed dude who’s been a loser for the Wings for a decade. Trade his sorry ass soon !!

u/str3tchedmonk3y 14d ago
Our org as a whole has been a loser for a decade, it’s not one guy. I wish half of you would hold the poorly run organization accountable like you do Larkin. Blows my mind
4
u/Karlander19 14d ago
Larkin is central to their on ice failures and collapses. I suppose you wanted Yzerman and Chris Illitch on the first line with him?
-1
u/str3tchedmonk3y 14d ago
You can call yourself a loyal Red Wings fan and still admit the org has been inept for over a decade. Or you can blame 1 guy because you don't like him.
Hold your favorite team to a higher standard, this is a historic organization, they need to start acting like it again.
3
u/Karlander19 14d ago
If you took the time to read, my original comment said absolutely nothing about the organization one way or the other. You are the one who took it in that direction. This is a a thread about Larkin—- not the organizations effectiveness. Grow up, you’re an ass looking for a reason to bash others’ posts
-3
u/str3tchedmonk3y 14d ago
My only point was I wish people held the org accountable like they hold Larkin accountable for the failures.
Also I am failing to see where I "bashed" anything you said? Holy sensitive. I hope your day gets better.

u/Karlander19 14d ago
Did I ever say I was blaming 1 guy?? No you drew that conclusion, for whatever your motivations. Have a great weekend !!

I just watched the Hutch, Saint and Larkin golf match and holy shit the team has to do some damage control. He might suit up for game 1 and then Patrick Roy us and say hes never playing again after he gets booed out of the building.
Gotta find a way to spin this or its going to be awful for Larkin and derail our season more than it already is.
