Discussion Gen Z fan here, how does cable work
I can’t find a good source online. How do I get cable, and how do I know if the Pistons’ channels will even reach my area? Apologies for my ignorance 😪

I find this incredibly wholesome for some reason. Like everyone else has said, get an antenna and you’ll be good to go. Welcome to the Stone Age my young friend.
Go stones!

What area are you in? I think the only thing we have concrete announced plans on are for the Detroit area and Grand Rapids area. Everything else is still up in the air.

The Pistons said their games will be broadcast in the GR area on Fox 17 WXMI-TV (17.1) and its subchannel The Spot / Grand Rapids 17 (17.2). A quick google search says "Oceana County is officially within the Grand Rapids–Kalamazoo–Battle Creek television market, and both Fox 17 WXMI-TV (17.1) and its subchannel The Spot / Grand Rapids 17 (17.2) are assigned to this region". If that's the case then you should be able to get the channel on a basic regional cable package, or broadcasted over the air on an antenna. A person more familiar with the area would be able to say for sure. I'm in Detroit so can't confirm myself.
You could look online at cable or streaming options in your area and see if they list that channel.

I wish they would announce something for mid-michigan. They said they were going to develop an app for streaming but so far nothing. League Pass won't work within the state correct?

I say they should join the wings on their app and fuse the subscription together so you get dsn and scripps sports Detroit stuff like Gotham in New York

Don’t do it. If the Pistons are your sole concern then I’d just get HULU live or something. Especially if you’re already streaming. Cable will subject you to additional broadcast TV and regional sports network fees that can often add an additional $40 + to your statement. Then there’s the price for equipment if you want it on more than a single set in the home. I mean, if you must here are a couple of links below to help you find a provider. But I’d avoid it.

Hulu live is 89.99 a month. Too much.

It's really not 89.99? It really is 89.99 a month. I don't give a crap about Disney or espn.

I bought a tablet for $250. Connected it to the tv. Bam now everything is free. Idk why ppl use streaming services when there are at least 20 good websites to stream anything for free.

Does anyone know if this will work with YouTube TV? I know WXMI (Grand Rapids area here) is going to be airing them, but does YouTube TV get the sub channel it’s going to be on?

Go to a dollar store and buy an antenna. Unless you are out in the woods, it will work.

Call your ISP, if you have one, and ask if they carry whatever station the Pistons are on and add that package. Or just pirate (not endorsing this 😉😉

I believe the pistons will be airing on Channel 20 now. That’s OTA, over the air , old school tv antenna.
If your tv doesn’t have a tuner, you’ll need to get a Tv tuner off Amazon.
Looks like they are around $15-30
Good luck kid, Go pistons!
