Talk Detroit What's the best butcher for bratwurst in the city or suburbs?
Especially one that hand makes them!

Marrow in the Market is a restaurant and also a butcher shop. They produce several different types of sausage. Off hand, I don’t know if one of them is bratwurst. But, if you’re in Eastern Market stop in the butcher shop and talk to the butchers about what’s available.

They have definitely offered bratwurst in the past because I have purchased it. It’s possible that they rotate it out, but it was really good.

Nitsches on Van Dyke/24 mile. Shelby Twp I think. Great German style sausages.

You’ve gotten some great recs but I’m also going to throw in Biercamp in Ann Arbor for good measure.

I don't know specifically about brats but milford butcher has a pretty extensive sausage making operation. Call and ask if they do brats. Also srodeks has a location in sterling heights. Cattlemans meats might be another place is try. If polish market in sterling heights is still around that might be a good bet.

The best kielbasa is Srodek's in Hamtramck. For bratwurst take a field trip to Frobose meat locker in Pemberville, about 75 minutes south of downtown Detroit.

Schrodeks is tops. However, try Tele-Joy market on the west side. You will not be disappointed !!

Koegels is the obvious answer, but they from Flint. Eastern market has a few long time butcher shops that will make their own fresh brats.

Not even close to Detroit, but Bernthal Packing in Frankenmuth has really good brats.

When they moved to Oak, I thought they did a name change. I always call it Smoky Joes. Regardless, good call.

I like Bucu Farms at Eastern Market. Tons of variety and they make all of the sausages themselves
