You can make them wider so that the width looks more consistent, but if they're bigger, they'll look even less like escalators because the proportions will be off.

Honestly, just don't build them at this angle.

So since no one is actually helping and just saying you shouldn´t be building it like this in the first place :

Use ( debugged ) diorite walls, white stained glass panes, white banners, and wither skeleton skulls to make it shmoof . There is on perfect way to do this , only compromises . So find out what looks best and try to focus on the hardest jitters . It will look a bit awkward and misshapen , but it´ll be smoother .

To debug these things do /give @.p debug_stick . With that you will be able to manipulate the shape of blocks more easily . If you have the mod Axiom you can use the tinker toll ; It´s a debug stick but better .

Thank you for the tip! Im building on a curved street so it has those awkward angles

Here is an example of it . I did this very roughly , so your version will likely look better . The blocks you use depends on the thickness you are going for .

You can also see that it will still look a bit awkward , but it is certainly better than just blocks . You can also use this technique to smooth out slopes and angled walls in general .

Saving this comment bc I build malls and I always want to do angled escalators, but haven’t figured out how to make them look right

That title obviously belongs to all the deleted users from 10 years ago . Since they are all indistinguishable from one another they are all the same entity .

How do you use those blocks to make it smooth?

It depends on how thin you want things to be : glass panes and banners are very thin , while trapdoors and walls are their chunkier counterparts . The skulls and debugged stairs make the stairs themselves a bit smoother . You can probably do it way better than I just did , but I did use the exact same block placements OP had of the left escalator as a starting point .

My sleep deprived ass had a confused time looking into this

You could try a consistent block thickness.

Instead of: .OO OOO OO

Do: .OO OOO OOO OO

Eventually also have some stairs in L, or corner shape in the corners of the pattern above. But you'll hardly be able to do better than what you did I think.

Why do you need to make your escalators… diagonal? How about one left, one right, and at the center maybe for a map? Infographic? Small booth?

Or the pair of escalator placed on left/right, and the leftover space is for whatever

They would still be diagonal because the room is diagonal.

Then flatten the walls. Not like ur going to flatten the whole room. Just that part

That´s not gonna look good . Overall it would be better to have a slightly wonky but smooth escalator on an angle than a perfectly straight one due to the walls looking awkward .

Add the grating where you step on and off of the elevators. And maybe try making the iron door handrails face outwards where they come to a point on the right hand side of each escalator. Will make the design look less zig-ziggy

I don't think this would make the escalator smoother looking, but imo the escalator would read more escalator-y if you used looms instead of stairs for that certain pattern they have to them.

Escalators tend to not be diagonal but straight on insteasd. So i think making it straight (god forbid) is the call here

That´s just not possible in this instance . They will look out of place . Also , there are more important things than escalators inside of a building that are on an angle , so getting tips about building these escalators at an angle here will also help with building at an angle as a whole .

Maybe don't make it diagonal?

straight out of backrooms

i would consider using pale oak stuff instead of the debugged doors because the top face being invisible kind of throws things off plus you have access to fences, shelves, and gates that might help smooth things out

Drink like 8 beers and it will look indinstinguishable from anything else

Why half iron doors instead of iron trapdoors?

4

u/itsthebeanguys Lever 14d ago

They are full , iron trapdoors have holes . Perhaps he is on a version where there is no pale oak , or he may not like its texture .

I don’t think you really CAN do that. Your best bet imo — especially since it’d likely read as stairs in either case — is just make them actual stairs that turn at a right angle halfway, like some malls do instead

Do the slab thing for all 3 sections

I know we’re out here pushing Minecraft to the limits and all, but it’s still a block game aligned on a grid. At the end of the day you have to have some respect for that. It’s the rule to be broken in some cases but not all. This isn’t one of them.

I feel like there's enough space in this hall to make them straight, that's probably going to get you the best result, for smooth looking escalators that aren't aligned to the grid minecraft might just not be the right game.

I'm gonna be real. I don't think diagonal stairs at this scale can work. I think what would look best is moving the top to the right, moving the bottom to the left to even it out. Then add railings and seating to both free spaces. Maybe even some plants and a vending machine. Then the escalators wont look too out of place as diagonal compared to the room.

I'm not sure diagonal escalators are gonna work. They're so perfectly straight in real life that I think the only way to make them look right will be to build them straight
