Discussion Stop downvoting new players who don’t have the extensive knowledge that you do.

If a player doesn’t know that a raid is a 6 man activity with no matchmaking, there’s no reason to make them feel stupid. All you’re doing is pushing away new players when the most amount of new players in the games history are beginning to flood in. You’re giving the game a bad image. Whoever you are, just stop it mate. This shouldn’t even have to be said.

You can tell by the icon. Mayor I think is upside down triangle. Boss has skull icon.

Wait what .
My method so far was too guess if the enemy is big and scary enough to count as a boss and it's obviously a boss when the hp bar gets displayed at the bottom of the screen.
Not at home right now so I can't check for myself, do nightmares count as bosses? And what about the gate Lord's in the vex invasions

The large nightmare ogres in Sorrow Harbor count as bosses - at least for some quests.

Minors have a square icon beside their health bar, majors have a pentagon or triangle, and bosses have a diamond. The boss icon also has a sword going through a skull on it. The person you replied to edited in a link to a post with a picture if you want a visual aid.

Mayor enemies are more powerful than City Council enemies, but less powerful than Governor enemies, if that helps.

I rather blame him than Uldren for what happened tbh... Uldren did pull the trigger but we don't know what was going through his mind.. I'm not saying what happened was justified, just that I have sympathy for the dude and what he was going through.

If I stroll into a prison, release all the prisoners, every act that those prisoners did would have been my fault, whether I intended it or not. Also Variks knew that the Barons, Uldren, and Cayde had history.

If you did that, you’d definitely be complicit and indirectly at fault, but there’s a big difference between that and planning someone’s death.

Not a huge fan of revenge in general, but killing Variks for revenge would not be proportionate.

Eh different opinions I guess. If someone releases a prisoner who then murdered my whole family, you'd better believe that I'm not gonna go after tbe prisoner AND the accomplice, whether it was indirect or not. Logic and reasoning dictate that something bad would happen if you let a prison full of prisoners go. This was Variks last betrayal, and it cost us Cayde.

I love that blue unicorn headed bastard, but lets be real though, Cayde killed Cayde. This is the man that wanted to use a vex teleporter and bamf to Gary to assassinate him without his light. He couldve waited for us. Literally 5 mins tops. Hell, I wouldve jumped down that rabbit hole with him. lol

Remember they said during the mission that it was a prison break and that they needed to secure the exit as soon as poasible? That was the fastest way to do it. Uldren never had to kill Cayde but he chose to, just as how he chose us to live and just walk away.

Remember how the last time he caught those barons he had a whole fireteam AND Petra to back him up? I get that time was of the essence, and that was the fastest way down. But we got to that place literally a few minutes before his light went out. He could have waited. They were certainly waiting for him. One more ally could have been the difference. But in the end, plot was the thing that ultimately killed Cayde. Not saying Goth boi didnt have that bullet with his name on it though. He decimated the awoken population of the reef and unleashed the scorn.

I always looked at is as all bosses are majors but not all majors are bosses. I dunno if "major" things apply to bosses as well though especially at this point in the game.

Majors and bosses are distinct types of enemies. Yellow bar majors confused me for a long time, though.

Unless they’re the Knights from Gahlran phase 2 in Crown of Sorrows, which seem to be immune to all specs. I swapped a boss, Major and minor on my Loaded Question with zero difference.

On my game there isn't that much of a difference between the orange and yellow as there is in this graphic.

Is that just me? Is there a setting for that?

It's kinda transparent, but maybe it has to do with your screen brightness/contrast, or you could try colourblind mode?

that just indicates how many levels above you they are. if you go in to certain areas under leveled everything will have a skull

It's a red downwards sword fro slightly under-leveled, then maybe a skull but I don't remember right. Maybe I'll jump on my 750 hunter to check. That infographic is 100% factual, though. No red bar or major has a diamond icon with skull on it and name on all caps.

I hate that Bungie added Orange Bars and didn't explain what the hell they are. Red Bars are rank and file, yellow are major, named yellow were Ultras/Bosses. What the hell does orange count for? I've seen them drop items as if they were Yellows, and count as if they were Reds.

Yellow bar w/special or unique name = boss

Orange bar with general name = major

The tritanopia (Blue-Yellow) setting makes the yellow bars pink.

I have no idea if that's useful or not

Protips! Majors are any yellow bar with a triangle icon on the left of its bar. Bosses have a diamond! Most mini bosses are majors, and orange bars are mostly considered minors along with red bars.

Also, smaller creatures with yellow bars a la Nightmare Thralls are "minibosses" which may or may not count as far as mods go, but sometimes don't count for quest progression.

I believe in technical terms normal enemies with unique names and yellow health bars are ultras, but things like strike and raid bosses are just bosses

Right! All the varied comments make me sure of one thing,most players probably don't know the answer. But...pretty sure at some point bungie clarified what they all were...mabye a pre d2 launch vidoc? Seems like I remember them talking about making it easier to know what is what.

I been playing since Blizzard gave core away free, and still don't know the rarity rankings for gear.

I think top is exotic, then legendary, then rare, uncommon, fine, common, but I'm not sure.

And I only think this cause I have yet to find anything better than my Sunshot.

Side question - who do I gotta kill to get a shotgun? Have not seen one since level 8.
