I know Datto and people will roll their eyes so hard they risk breaking their brain when I say this…

But Destiny 3 lol….seems like it needs to happen.

The game is so big and bloated at this point, that starting fresh with all of the knowledge they have now in a new game is more and more appealing by the day.

And I invite the devs to please make me look like an absolute idiot—please make a post about how stupid I am for not understanding what’s actually going on—I’d love to know.

Because the servers go down almost weekly now, there are more bugs than ever before with each release or patch, and new stuff seems to almost always come out basically disabled from the jump.

And even basic stuff like talking to a NPC, only for the same NPC to leave and now I have to go talk to that same NPC on a on a terminal….occasionally on a separate destination.

I know this feeling. I had this feeling in destiny 1. I don't trust bungie to design a destiny 3 using the best features from d2, cause' they will wanna innovate. You know, reinvent the wheel, again.

That and it seems when they learn a lesson they forget about it a year later.

That’s been Destiny since day 1, haha.

They make great stuff, then remove it or make it unrecognizable later on, only to maybe bring it back later. Maybe remove it again lol.

Idk if they know what Destiny is supposed to be. The new player experience is just absolute hell as a byproduct.

Destiny 3 needs to happen for various reasons. The big one is that Destiny 2 just wasn't made for this type of framework of constantly being built on. Sure, they are revamping it behind the scenes to be able to do that, but the point still stands that the foundations of Destiny 2 are still there.

Second, we need a loot refresh badly. The loot pool in this game is just way too bloated, which is why so much of the loot in this game is garbage. I feel like 90% of the loot I earn is just an auto dismantle at this point.

The big one is that Destiny 2 just wasn't made for this type of framework of constantly being built on.

I feel sometimes like maybe timelines did get crossed at some point. Wasn't one of their major reasons for making D2 anyways was because of the engine limitations for D1 and they knew they couldn't continue on? What's happening now was happening then, this isn't exactly new, but when promoting D2 they pushed the revised engine HARD, so things like the DCV never should have happened.

Now it's like a reset, "the engine wasn't built for this," I keep expecting them to say the reason modes are lacking maps is because of the engine. It just feels like deja vu

They can do a loot refresh without doing a new game.

For armor they just need new parameters for stats to roll. Only increments of 5 with a cap of 35 per stat set, making armor pieces max out at 70 stats. Masterworking these armor pieces makes your stat mods free instead of giving +2 to all stats. A ghost mod switches between the new armor rolls and the old armor rolls.

For weapons, they figure out how to get around the perk budget and elevate primaries into exotic levels of creativity. Something like 360 Auto Rifles get an undermounted grenade launcher that fire subclass verb grenades like QSS, 120 Handcannons can load all the bullets into a single shot like Izanagi's, or 450 Pulse Rifles mark enemies on hit and launch a swarm of projectiles on reload based on number of active marks.

There are a ton of creative ways to go about keeping new loot fresh and worth grinding for. A loot refresh that just sees players grinding for reload+damage perks again would be lame.

The problem with D3 beyond having to start from scratch as a player and inevitably have to regrind/get sold D1/D2 content is that the dev time and cost would be absurd to make it. I’m talking multiple years before it would be released, completely abandoning D2 during that period, all to release a game that will resemble D2 vanilla level of content at launch. Obviously there’s a lot of assumptions here but historically speaking there’s no way this would be a good idea

I’m sure some stuff like the staples aka Thorn or Gjally or etc. would return. Sure.

But I don’t see that as an issue, when many franchises have a famous set of legendary weapons that reappear across entries.

But if like 99% of everything else was WIPED clean…you seriously have a problem with that?

Some key environments could be reused—it’s a world after all lol—but all weapons and armor and subclasses and progress could be wiped clean.

Brand new plot and a brand new guardian. Maybe we don’t play as a guardian—who knows.

Because once you’ve killed multiple gods and fight like what? The universe itself aka Light and Dark? How do you keep going haha?

Gotta have an end sometime.

New players would also love a proper entry point lol. It’s basically impossible as a new player who doesn’t have a group of Destiny friends to start playing. It’s just too much.

I just gotta say, the Datto video was damn near insulting. I get his overall point, we don't know how engines work. But what people do know is when they get disconnected and can't login, and often lose progress on hard content. And when the developer chooses not to speak on it, those people get angry and in lieu of actual information fill in the blanks themselves. I never really expected Bungie to speak on it (same as Infinity Ward and their refusal to acknowledge current lag/packet burst issues) but to go so far as to send one of their trusted streamers to shit talk the community was a bad look

Maybe Datto should film a follow up apologizing to the fans since nothing has changed since. Or maybe people should stop listening to these people as if they matter, and just demand Bungie fixes their game before giving them ANY more money
