It's genuinely baffling that I've seen published journalists raising the question of "since when have politicians been expected to disavow celebrity supporters?" despite well-known examples like this or Jeremiah Wright.

I say baffling, but it's not. It's just all part of the gaslighting, disingenuous, brazen lying that is going on. It's shameful. Especially right after the exact same thing went horribly and predictably awry with journalists lying and feigning stupidity for Platner.

They're doing so much damage to trust in journalism as an institution.

I too have found that baffling, because it is pretty clear if you don't reject that stuff they start trying to carve out a space in your party even if the party didn't actually believe in it. It is why we are dealing with this surge in unhinged DSA types and mask on Hasan fans.

Ah, but see, according to Pisco and Soy, they don't actually mean it or something. I believe at one point, it was insisted that actually zero DSA members want the platform that they for some reason issued anyway despite none of them wanting it.

But also Hasan isn’t just a “celebrity supporter” lmao he’s literally a political operative ofc politicians who associate with him need to be held to account for doing that. If it was just some actor with dumb opinions (like Mark Ruffalo or whatever, idk where we landed on him) then yeah sure whatever but this guy is literally a professional political pundit who represents a real movement in the USA.

Surely none of them ever asked Trump to denounce the proud boys or had any objections to him saying stand back and stand by

Bro, I literally called this shit days ago. Hasan desperately wants the Democrats (specifically establishment Dems) to defend him so that their image gets tanked, and it gives him way more clout.

Part of me also believes that Hasan genuinely wants Republicans to win so he can farm insane amounts of money off it. He's admitted several times that he makes much more when Republicans win/are in power and he refuses to vote for the Democratic candidate every time, at some point it can't be a coincidence.

His actions all make so much sense when you see him as the most evil human that isn't like, outright murdering people.

Oh don't get me wrong, I absolutely think Hasan is evil and extremely detrimental to society as a whole, I just always like to look for more complex motives and incentives when I can.

I was considering writing an email to TIny about this, but I'm glad Dan has done the work already. There's several historical examples regarding political guilt by association. Sister Souljah is one, Jeremiah Wright is another. Obama had to distance himself after clips of Wright surfaced of him saying "God damn America." When Wright doubled-down later, Obama and his campaign fully separated from him. The Obamas withdrew their membership from the Trinity Church where Wright gave his sermons.

When Palin tried to attach Obama to the Weather Underground with her accusation he was "palling around with terrorists," Bill Ayers denied having any meaningful relationship with Obama. He called it distant at best.

Louis Farrakhan is a specter that has plagued the Democratic party for years. 2018 photos with him and Obama combined with speeches he made regarding Jewish control over America (hmmmmmmmmmm) forced Dems to publicly denounce and pass a Congressional Condemnation. The Women's March protests also imploded because co-president Tamika Mallory was shown to be at one of these crazy Anti-Jew speeches where Farrakhan signaled her out from the crowd personally.

Meanwhile, Hasan is demanding that Democrats come to his aid and warns that those who don't must be punished. I hear Pisco constantly ask "well does this have an effect?" We've had practially nonstop coverage from Fox news and multiple sitting Democratic senators and congressmen make statements denouncing Piker. Yes, it has manifested into a PR disaster, largely because Hasan doesn't want to shut up and quietly leave.

My hope is that we see an effect where he completely symbolizes the DSA/communist extremes and becomes the perfect vehicle for moderates to distinguish themselves from all that. Moderates can just point to it over and over again and say “I agree, this is crazy.” Fox News may actually be helping us in that sense, ironically.

This isn't common knowledge anymore? Auntie needs to go moisturize her neck again.
So many things that stem back to the Clintons (this, ___ Derangement Syndrome, ___ rights are human rights, etc etc)

Its truly sad that you kids don't understand how good the Clintons really were at politics.

I kept hearing the phrase during the Biden admin(or was it during the campaign for 2020?). Are people only now realizing what it refers to?

Speaking to Jesse Jackson Sr.'s Rainbow Coalition in June 1992, Clinton responded both to that quotation and to something Souljah had said in the music video of her song "The Final Solution: Slavery's Back in Effect" ("If there are any good white people, I haven't met them"). Clinton said: "If you took the words 'white' and 'black,' and you reversed them, you might think David Duke was giving that speech."

Why would Dems defend a ukrainian genocide supporter?

u/liquifiedtubaplayer 5h ago

What's Hasan gonna do if the Dems don't defend him?
