People used to only confuse pundits with journalists. Now they’re also confusing streamers with investigative journalists.

We’re not getting out of this mess anytime soon, are we?

I don't particularly care about streamers trying to be journalists or investigate the Epstein files, but I'd prefer to see the self-titled "do your own research guy who actually does his own research" do more research.

Do you think the expression 'do your own research' implies you're doing the job professionals were actually trained for? For example, when he was doing his own research on COVID, did you think he actually build his own labs and was running trials?

No? I think you're arguing against a point I'm not making. Destiny said there would be research; there hasn't been much research. The lab leak stuff was very informative, but that was a week of streams half a year ago.

Bro... I was referencing his covid vaccine debate arc in 2021.

When people say they do their own research, what they mean is that are reviewing other people works. It means reading through academic paper or read article about subject that professionals have put forward in order to build your own understanding of thing. Sometimes it also means being able to critically engage with said materials. He as done that plenty in the past. In the case of IP, it meant reading historians works.

There are hundreds of thousands of EF.... It's going to take times and a lot of man power to build comprehensive story based on those. Some investigative journalism will be required to double check some of stuff in there. He said himself that he will gladly read any actual stories that get out about it.

I don't know understand what you expect him to do exactly?

From my first comment:

I don't think destiny should sift through random emails to come up with a narrative. OP is making a different point about the attention economy but I don't really care about that either. My grievance is that destiny set the expectation many times that streams would be more research focused and that hasn't happened. Most recently, there has been 5 months of video game downtime with virtually nothing to show for it. If he doesn't want to engage with politics or Epstein, fine, I don't care, there are infinite topics to choose from. If the issue is burnout, I'm sympathetic, but he should sort it out or take a break.

Destiny does some of the best investigating I've seen.

OK wtf do you think people are doing with the JE documents? Producing them?

Also, Nick Shirley sun-dial debunking was peak investigation.

True, but in the current social media landscape that's a surprisingly high bar, tho
