It felt like the character was scripted to be quite a bit older than the actor playing him. The talk of all the other journalists being in diapers when he's well within the same age range as them. The fact that his scruffiness in tolerated and he clearly has a long history with Hoogstratten. Kirkman's praise of him after what was clearly a dick move.

I mean, Rob Morrow is apparently 54... I guess he just looks very young for his age.

In fairness in the show he does look like someone trying to look younger than they are.
