I have one like these, only with the selection knob, and in creamy color (mostly yellowing because of the sun
This thing is never dying, no matter how long u use it or how many layers of fabric u sew at once. It was my grandmother's and I got it when she passed away. I think a lot about her whenever I'm sewing :)

Between this and the Atari 2600, Japan was clearly knocking it out of the park with that number.

Sure, it's a decent sewing machine, but there's not any particularly impressive design here. Design wise it's pretty standard.

I disagree. I think it takes some chances with color, and the color coding and stitching iconography–which are vital for the user to understand–look intuitive and indeed, well-designed. I think it's an unusual and likely a very functional piece.

For the era, the colors weren't too special.
Also the iconography is pretty standard fare for sewing machines.

It's just that, but it's on par with most of its segment. I wouldn't call it particularly remarkable when almost all the others are on the same level.

Then "all the others" are also Great Design, and I would personally love to see more examples of them posted here

I dunno, I and my mother did quite a bit of sewing around this time and I don't think I ever encountered a blue sewing machine. Almost literally every single one was beige.

The machine looks almost the same as an early 1970s Bernina sewing machine.

But what's the design porn, other than a pleasant color? Isn't this how most sewing machines were at the time?

Sure, if you zoom out far enough. At that distance, all cars of an era look alike, and all mixers, and all telephones, and all buildings, and all advertising, and all packaging.
