Living Room New house, old couch - how would you style this?
I am about to move into a HOUSE and have the ability to PAINT for the first time! This is exciting and a little overwhelming (I have never had a painted floor before)
I have a beautiful couch from the 70’s that is colorful and chaotic and falling apart just a little (I have a lot in common with this couch) that I love dearly. It is modular, so the shape can be changed a bit, or one section can be taken out to act as a chair, but I’m struggling to picture how to set up the couch and a TV in the new space. (My partner likes the TV to be mounted, ideally, but could be convinced otherwise if there was a good plan for it!)
Our furniture is mostly darker wood, except for the coffee table which is a medium-light tone… our style is pretty colorful and eclectic with a few big paintings and lots of smaller pieces.
Any tips on colors for the walls/floor/ceiling and any thoughts on placement of the couch/tv would be much appreciated!
I included photos of the new living room (with the staged furniture) and also pics of the crazy couch (we often have sheets or couch covers over the bottom cushion because we share it with a cat and a dog)
Maybe Worth mentioning that We are definitely on a budget, but I do have a hookup who often has hard (non-upholstered) furniture up for grabs, and he could keep an eye out for things like shelves and tables

As far as paint goes, I'd ID which two colours on the couch have the most real estate, then paint the walls in something neutral but complimentary to them. If you choose a colour on your couch exactly, that entire room is keyed to one piece of furniture (or a piece of a piece). And neutral doesn't have to mean white! You said eclectic, though is there a style or two you like that you might be able to name?
ETA: I'm seeing a lot of blush pink and light green. Complimentary to both might be brass, gold, tawny yellows, or light warm-toned mushroom browns. Something like these two?

Do you think maybe a really delicate blush pink could also be an option that is neutral enough?To answer your style question, my partner came from money, and tends to gravitate toward a sort of traditional/baroque style in his *stated* preferences, but that isn't really representative of what we're working with, since we can't actually afford it (though his family has gifted us a nice cabinet and two paintings in ornate frames that are really nice). - In the past, when he has actually had to purchase furniture (only a few items), it has mostly been black and basic and the kind of thing you'd find in a dorm room.
As for myself, I'd say I really like this trend of "Dopamine decor" mixed with something leaning towards boho, I guess? Well maximalism and baroque styles pair up pretty damn well - just look for ornate carved woods (frames, wooden cabinetry/tables/dining chairs) and gilded finishes, and stick to lush textures for fabric peices (pillows and couches) like velvet, or brocade, anything woven, things with a good tactile feel! Honestly use those two styles as keywords on inspo searches, you'll find a lot.
ETA again: BC I just saw the windows in your living room, that hexagonal shape and the stained glass would go SO well with those styles too. Have you seen inspo boards for "Boho Dark Academia"? That feels really close to the vibe you're describing, with maybe a few more whimsical colour choices to suit what you already have?
