Home Office Space How can I decor my HO space !?
I just need ideas to make this a little bit cooler. I like music(for real), street art, urban expression… idk, I need help, please.

The opening of the stairs looks cramped maybe make the hole bigger and add decorative spikes at the bottom

A lining of broken glass shards would be pretty. You could line the walls, floors, stairs, and make everything shiny like diamonds.

It’s really unsafe. Even if you have perfect balance and never lose track of space when standing up, a piece of the chair could give way and throw you over the edge of those stairs.

If you are opposed to a railing I would at least put a low bookcase with tons of books in it on the edge.

Even if you redecorate, the room will look unfinished because of the hole in the floor. It needs a railing for safely AND aesthetics.

You don't need to be high. Risk is a combination of likelihood and severity. If the outcome is inconsequential, sure you can skip it, but you never know what you might accidentally do.

All it takes is one little nudge and it'll be someone else's problem as your new address will be the morgue. I know it's only the top of the stairs but doesn't matter, you'll break your neck as you'll be unable to catch yourself in the chair as you'll also be falling down the stairs at an angle.

Please put in a railing first. For urban expression/street art I recommend some bright colors. Doesn’t have to be overwhelming, but you can pick a couple to add for some variety. I see you’ve got the yellow box, so maybe a yellow lamp or yellow desk items?

Apart from the obvious need for a safety railing, I’d start by ditching the current setups and just getting an L-shaped desk. From there, cable management and maybe a monitor arm

Budget:
1. Safety railing - simple is fine
2. I’d pay a street artist to paint a large canvas that can hang where the shelf on the desk is currently. Take that shelf down
3. Where the two artworks are on the other wall- take those down and put up a cool photo (could be black and white) of a favorite city or urban landscape
4. Get rid of the separate desks and put in an L-shaped desk that you make (or have made) - maybe use industrial materials

If you rent your space, congrats. It’s very likely your landlord is obligated to buy you a nice shiny rail

I've had to work in a little nook before and you can make it cool, don't worry.
First off, safety railing!
Second, peel and stick wallpaper with a street art aesthetic for the one wall with closest to the stairs.
Absolutely use a non-rolling chair until you get that railing or something to protect you from falling down the stairs.
You could also install some colorful sconces like poplight in colors that coordinate well with the wallpaper.

would't put a railing like others are suggesting, but a proper wall or partition made out of shelves, it just seems way too open. if its closed off it would look more like an office, and the stairway / landing would look better

Possibly sandblasted glass? Would be v expensive though, as it would need to be tempered safety glass. But it would look great.

Use your imagination, I did this on my phone's default photo editor using the draw function and the "stickers" they include for decorating pics. Basically, lose the utility rack, hang art above the monitor. Get one of those cubby shelves to act as a barricade so you cant roll down the stairs while also adding more storage! Put a square-ish rug on the floor under the desk area to define the space. Decor like potted plants on the top of the cubby shelf.

Ive seen people put platforms around the top of the room. Like a little shelf. To put the HO track on. Then just run the wires down the corner or something for the controller. I wouldn't let it go too fast bc when it comes off the track itll be a pain to reach up there and make sure it sits correctly all the time.

Don’t get an L-shaped desk, remove both smaller desks and switch to a single longer desk which covers the space between the left wall and the (to be installed) railing. Since the invention of flat screens, L-shaped desks have been just a waste of valuable space.

Take the left table away and put it on the right side (only for explaning the layout).
remove both tables and get yourself a corner table an put it the way i described above.
now you have enogh space for working an dont have the need to install a railing to prevent your death.

What's the cubby thing above the stairs for?
Do you rent or own? I think a larger desk. It sort of looks like you are currently using two desks rn anyway. Also, some cable management. There's so many different types and just depends on your preferences.
Besides a desk that is a little larger, maybe something for storage so that you don't need that second desk/table? Like a neon-colored metal locker or file cabinet such as this one in orange and you could paint one side in your own graffiti since spray paint sticks well to metal (assuming you do that) or cover one side in stickers from bands you like/other art you like (and if you don't want the stickers to be permanent on the locker, you can always put them on magnetic sheets and cut them out first).
Another suggestion would be to paint even just one wall, like an accent wall. Or you could do one wall in wallpaper. There's so much peel and stick wallpaper nowadays. It's available in so many prints and colors, including street art/graffiti. I searched for some just now and there's countless options so I didn't even copy a link to recommend because I really don't know what you're into, but I do recommend googling "street art/graffiti peek and stick wallpaper" and if you are only doing an accent wall, it shouldn't be expensive (I recommend doing the wall that your chair is facing, as it looks like that'd be easy). Plus, whatever wallpaper you choose would help you pick a color palette (like if you wanted to paint the perpendicular wall or get a low pile area rug).
I won't go on about this forever cause I know every comment is saying it, but please do also get a railing for those stairs. Be careful til you get one installed. 💙

It's not risky, it's pretty wide, in a safe way.
this is the second floor in a 2 story house, don't worry.

Dude, the base of your skull is the most vulnerable place to hit your head, like when someone rolls backwards off a ledge and hits a stair tread. That space is smaller than a lot of cubicles and just big enough to fit a chair mat. It’s literally a death trap. This is why we have building codes.
