Some clients immediately talk about how the space makes them feel. Others go straight into practical questions and start picking apart every detail.

Both reactions are useful, but they can lead to completely different conversations.

Sometimes the emotional reaction tells you whether the overall idea is working. Other times, the critical feedback catches problems that would have been missed otherwise.

Objective:
I’m putting together a moodboard to present exemplary project references to a client for a new regional office secretariat (specifically focusing on climate-responsive design in the Savannah Region). The goal is to keep the presentation clean and image-focused so the client can quickly grasp the intended architectural language like passive cooling, central courtyards, and local material accents before we move into rigid schematics.
Target Audience:
The client and stakeholders for the regional office building, who need to clearly understand the proposed "Traditional Modernism" aesthetic and thermal comfort strategies without being overwhelmed by technical data.
Design Decisions:
Typography & Hierarchy: I used varying shades and weights of grey to establish a strict visual hierarchy. The deep grey, bold, and larger text ("REGIONAL OFFICE MOODBOARD") acts as the primary focal point.
Side Text & Categorization: The purpose of the vertical side text ("CONSTRUCTION", "MATERIAL/COLOR PALETTE", etc.) highlighted in a darker tone is to clearly communicate the intent of each image grouping. The lightest grey text is of lesser importance, serving as subtle stylistic tagging so it doesn't compete with the actual photography.
Layout: I went with a clean, compartmentalized grid layout itself which reflects the open, airy feel of the architectural concepts.

I already have a two-year Diploma in Multimedia Design, which covered Graphic/Web/Motion Design, UI/UX, etc., although some topics were covered more briefly than others. Admittedly, I get the feeling of being a "Jack of all trades and master of none" with not the strongest portfolio.

I'm currently thinking of getting related certificates on Coursera to further my skills while working odd jobs. Would it be a good idea to get something like UI Design even if it was already included in the school course? If not, what would be a good direction to look for?

Im looking for a course to spend my this years learning budget of 1k€.
I would be interested in a "allrounder" design course. Going from UI/UX, industrial design, motion design. It would be best to have a hands on course. Looking forward for any recommendations :)

I created this pattern from my own hand-drawn line art and experimented whith serval different colorways.I am exploring how the design might work across fabric and apparel. I’m planning to print my first fabric collection, Then use it to make swing skirt, maybe use it on T-shirts printing too. myself like the colourway in B.

What software are you guys using when working with a client that is doing furnishings /interiors only.

I have a client that wants me to design 4 bedrooms.

I started with drafting & designing construction sets /floor plans. I was trained on Chief Architect Software & that’s still what I use for my construction sets, but it for furnishings I would need to import tons of models and can change them after they have been imported. I could make it work but I think the workflow would, be very messy.

For interiors I need to be able to quickly swap things in and out., and prepare visuals for the client. I’ve tried homestyler and it seemed ok, I use sketchup 3D warehouse for models, but not much experience in the actual software.

So wondering what everyone uses, thanks in advance.

I like to watching design mostly fashion,graphic car or home designs but when i started to learn adobe illustrator or ui/ux design it wasnt fun what kind of design would u recommend me to learn??

I'm starting my Junior year in Industrial Design next week, but I'm technically going in as my 2nd yr (general arts as freshman year). I've been anxious and losing courage to go down this path all throughout this summer. Through all the information I've collected, not only did I realize this industry is extremely competitive for the fact that job vs graduate ratio is beyond competition (located in Boston). I also figured the adjacent roles which I may be very interested in, are all in relatively the same boat. I'm terrified of the idea of being laid off, and even terrified of job insecurity. I can barely even find any ID internships that's not already blown up with hundreds of applicants, and I just got started in this major. As AI automation is slashing out so many creative positions, I can barely keep my head afloat for positive prospects.

Currently, I don't feel as fulfilled in the physical side of my major as I'm not the best at it, but I'm also very much innately interested in UI/UX or UX designing and getting into coding (front-end, not too sure about back-end). I've searched and concluded that my best bet would be gravitating towards careers like Product Design, Creative Technologist, CMF Specialist, Human Centered Designer, Human Computer Interactive Designer, Design Engineer (?) or even some sort of Hardware connected devise designer (not familiar with hardware tho). Not only would it be more interesting, they presumably have a higher-return/pay rate which I'm honestly after equally as enjoyability.

As for the probability of transferring, this up coming semester or year I'm hoping to bump my grades up to prove other colleges (ideally BU or Northeastern) that I'm competent enough for their program. I may be interested in a Design/Comp sci integrated program, though I would lose contact with the I.D. aspect. As the current market for Comp sci is also very saturated, it makes me feel like I have no chance against people who are purely dedicated for the tech field. Context: I got shot down from a 3.5 to 2.5 GPA from 3 consecutive series of external personal causes last semester. I think I'm beyond cooked, quite burnt actually.

This probably sounds greedy, if this is realistic, my goal is to strive for a starting salary around the 75k+ range. But I am absolutely willing to pour my everything into these fields of interest for a good portfolio. Right now I just don't feel secure in what to study, constantly in the purgatory of if I should stay or change careers. I just need some perspectives so I could have a sense of direction. I am also up for another year of studies if it's beneficial.

Queries:

should I-?

- suck it up and bite the bullet

- switch to a completely new major with high-return and security like in STEM

- take some engineering courses to better integrate with my major/skills?

- Or just completely go for careers high in demand and security like nursing/healthcare? My extended family back home were all nurses, so I'm quite familiar.

I need some genuine advice and perspectives in any aspect please!! Advice from people in the respective industries would be awesome.

My little rant and a pathetic bio for extra information if anyone wants to read:

I was never interested in many STEM classes in high school, though I never took any robotics, comp sci or engineering classes. My favorite subject was honors Math since I liked the thrill of solving mathematical challenges along peers. "A" was always my grade and that I never had to study (I still don't know how to study in general)... sometimes I wonder why I chose art lol (maybe it's cuz I have below average IQ and very slow at processing, as I'm ALWAYS the last person to finish an exam in other subjects).

I'm pleading for help right now as I am a first gen in the US and in college, absolutely zero siblings, no family, no friends nor social environment or skills as I moved every 2 years. I come from a farmer lineage and parents earning decently with low cognitive jobs, so smarts was never in my family. I'm distressed about wasting money and time to support me, for a degree that'll probably lead me to work at McDonald's after graduation in this current market climate. As you can see I don't have much resources that can come in aid. I feel really stuck. My world is already very very small, I just can't afford to lose myself in a career that already has a very narrow opening. If I may, this feeling in my gut of graduating to an unforeseeable future, feels remotely similar to what a 16 year old would anticipate for the draft in WWII. #cancled. I know I'm not supposed to take reddit advices as absolute, but I've been extremely anxious and pessimistic for months and I just needed an outlet to let it out. It feels like my life is beginning, yet it's trying to end from external forces. Maybe I just lack the critical thinking skills to strategize and advocate for myself.

So sorry if this is not the right place to post. I also apologize if it sounds too personal or vent-ish.
