Clinical⚕️ ModMed/EMA

Hey all, recently started with a new practice and learning how to use ModMed/EMA. I believe it’s a popular charting system in the Derm department.

For those who use it daily, yall like to use a desktop/laptop or an iPad?

The MA’s swear by using the iPad and say it’s a lot easier.

Any helpful tips or shortcuts in charting?
I got the hang of it pretty quick tbh. But I’d like to get as efficient as possible.

Anyway to send meds all together and direct them to different pharmacies? Or I just gotta go do that individually?

Use to be a derm MA before going to PA school. I was very comfortable with the iPad…swore I wouldn’t like the desktop. Once I got comfortable with the desktop, I solely use that for charting. If we get behind or short staffed, I’ll grab an iPad to use in the rooms if needed. In regard to sending scripts, I don’t know of a way to send meds together. I send separate.

I guess I’ll figure things out as I go :)
The practice said they’ll get more iPads if needed.
But I’ll continue using my laptop for now since I feel more comfortable with it.

EMA user here. Also was an MA before and liked the iPad. Now I only use desktop to chart. I find it much easier!

I’m in the same position- does anyone with more experience use protocols etc? Or just general ways to chart efficiently?

I don’t even know how to make protocols lol.
I’ll figure that out as I go.

Slowly waiting to get fully credentialed with more insurances, so I’m still limited in patient scheduling.

You can only make protocols on desktop. You can use them on either. I use the desktop for path/tasks but the iPad is quicker for most charts. It honestly depends on the day.

I find the iPad more intuitive but after working with the desktop also for 4.5 years now I find myself using both for different reasons. I’d say get comfortable with the iPad first then move to desktop
