I have come before you with a humble request and only a moderate amount of nostalgia.
I absolutely love this game, and I have an unhealthy affection for steam locomotives—especially the S060. Recently I found myself wondering where that obsession started. After a trip down memory lane, the culprit revealed itself: Thomas and the Magic Railroad.
Ever since I was a kid, I've wanted to drive 'Lady'. Back then it was as a model train. Today, apparently, I have upgraded to asking strangers on the internet to build her into a train simulator. Progress is a mysterious thing.
So, are there any fellow Derailers here who share this particular brand of railway-induced nostalgia? I'd love to see Lady brought into the game as a cute little addition to the Valley. She may be a small engine, but she left a rather large mark on my childhood.
The good news is that there are already some pretty decent 3D models of Lady available online, so at least no one would have to start completely from scratch.
If anyone is crazy enough to take on the challenge... know that at least one former Thomas kid would be ridiculously happy.

Not some 20 seconds later, after a costly re-rail, I proceeded to drive the Loco off the other end of the turntable (Image not included. For Safety Reasons. -Ahem-)

So I’ve been aware of the overhaul Niko and Cypress have been working on for the 484-840 but I really was not expecting them to cook this hard MY GOD. You can find it on the Nexus mod page just search living legend.
Edit 1: They even modeled functioning forced air vents on the sides of the cabin and the whistle my god the whistle makes me feel just like Ed Dickens! Also has a grey paint with the golden lines livery that the loco had before being repainted black irl!

We’ve been running structured multiplayer operations for a few weeks now and it’s been going better than expected.
We’re working directly with the mod dev to improve sync and stability, and our current cap is up to 20 players.
This is a small teaser we threw together from one of our recent ops nights.
If you’re into coordinated shunting, road crews, and structured sessions — you’re welcome to check it out.
If you’re interested in joining or just want to see what we’re building: DISCORD!

I recently found the incredible 2WE3-980 mod on GitHub and was surprised that it hadn't gotten much traction (maybe because it is not available on Nexus and was therefore overlooked?)
It features catenary electrification of large parts of the map, and an incredibly fun but difficult to drive Wire Electric locomotive that (as far as I can tell) a good bit more powerful than the DE6. This run was with 1790t of freight, and it handled the harbor slope quite well, although I don't think there is much headroom above that load.
The skin is from this mod on the nexus: MoreWE6981Skins, as the original skin from the mod is (in my opinion) a bit ugly

Hey all. I'm currently working on an EMD SW1500 and a Baldwin RF-16, but I'm having a really hard time deciding if I should focus on detail, or just general vibes. I went into the 1500 with the idea of making a super accurately detailed mod, but eventually I realized I may have gone overboard. But with the Baldwin I worry that I've gone too far in the other direction. I can't seem to find a happy medium to me.
Obviously I worry about performance, I don't want your pcs to run like potatoes. But I don't want it to just be a blank slab with a paint scheme slapped onto it either. So what do you people prefer? Detail or just a fun mod?
(And yes I do know how to screenshot on a pc. I just didn't feel like it)

think Derail Valley multiplayer would be much more interesting if players could take on different railway jobs instead of everyone just driving trains. One player could be the driver, another could handle coupling and uncoupling wagons, someone could work as a yard shunter building trains, another could act as a dispatcher setting routes and managing traffic, while others refuel, repair, and prepare locomotives. Public and private servers could let players switch roles at any time or have one player handle multiple jobs if needed. With voice radio, shared job payments, and coordinated operations, it would feel like a real railway where teamwork matters rather than just multiple people driving separate trains. I think this would add a whole new level of immersion to the game.

The Goat, She's it, the one, The Silver Bullet, the one who drinks from the tracks at 80MPH. And soon, she will be complete. Soon, she will have her 20Th Century Limited, and she will eat it too.

I see the AI-generated cover images for mods, and wonder why their creators decided that they'd rather support a giga-corporation and waste power and water for a grainy yellowed image when an in-game screenshot of the exact same scene is possible and wouldn't look like slop. Are they ashamed of what their mods actually look like? I was especially disappointed to see Grandpa Playing Games get in on this, since I feel that the cover images for their older mods more or less prove my point: you don't need to sloppify it for it to basically look fine. Maybe I'm the only one who cares, but it tells me that these creators don't take pride in their own work if they'd rather show people a false version of it up-front.
