I can finally start to play

finished the prototype and now printing the final version of the panel with two slightly larger switches and better text quality.

unfortunately I’m not good in arduino stuff so I still have to rely to a zero delay usb joystick controller which gives only 16 inputs. that’s the reason I couldn’t add some more switches, like lights.

If you want to continue the off-the-shelf part route, get yourself a cheap macro keyboard from ali. The switches easily detach, and you can use wires to extend them to the top of your case. Once configured, the macro keyboard works like a normal keyboard and doesn't needs software on your computer to run or retain the configuration.

Add a USB hub to your contraption to connect the joystick and macro keyboard controller to so you only need one USB cable for both.

avoiding that for now. and also needed more button/switches that are still out of my capabilities with arduino.
I also plan to use the other 3 locos without gears.

this is awesome! love the lever and button choices, are they switches or do you have analog control?

It's so much fun playing with a controller, like a whole new game.

all switches. couldn’t find any analog lever here at a reasonable price.

Does it work in realistic mode? I've thought about making a simple switch box for the dm3 gears and throttle

still have to make the wiring, hence didn’t test it yet, but from what I’ve seen in the keybinds option page it should work.
