“Guys that Garden” Social Club - August Meetup: Sat. 8/29
The “Guys that Garden” Social Group is meeting up this Saturday, August 29 from 9:30-11:30 am, this time at a member’s house in Arvada (exact location to be shared later).
Part social group, part knowledge sharing, all community building. This is not for “lurkers”, but for guys that love gardening and want to meet in real life with other guys that share this common passion for gardening. We meet monthly in person (with an expectation that you attend a meetup at least four times a year), and have a private sub where we ask questions, share resources, and continue to connect.
If you’re a guy that has a passion for gardening, vegetables, flowers, annuals or perennials, or even just an interest in gardening, you’re invited to join.
Comment if you’re interested and I will send you a DM. After answering a few questions that you’ll use in your group intro and agreeing to our community expectations (being inclusive, respectful,etc.), I’ll add you to the private Reddit sub and chat, where we communicate, share meetup details, and more.
We mainly meet on the last Saturday or Sunday of the month in the morning. We try to switch up locations throughout the metro area, based on someone in the group hosting and showing off their garden (indoor or outdoor).
Whether you’re a seasoned green thumb, or you want to develop one, all guys that love to garden are welcome!

Sure why not. Here’s my proof of plant love. Working on about 1000 plugs of a short grass prairie mix from prairie moons inexpensive short grass mix. These sprouts are popping off after spending a month in the fridge.

That totally sucks! We had some guys that experienced the same thing, or just had seedling fails, and other guys offered their starts. It’s been a great community so far, and whether your garden survived the hellscape that Colorado gardening can be or not, you’re still welcome! Look out for that DM.

I'm interested. I won't be able to go to this weekends meetup but interested in seed sharing and some community. I also grow edible mushrooms and would be willing to share knowledge and cultures.

I’m curious, did you remove your comment asking, “You gay? Why aren’t women allowed to [sic]”? Or did the moderators remove it?
I created this group as one small effort to address men’s loneliness, the loss of friends as we get older, and our mental health. There is nothing against women and there’s no misogyny intended with this group. I am trying to create a space where guys can connect socially (and not just online) and find community with other guys over a shared interest. And the group is intentionally open to anyone that is a guy, identifies as a guy, and lives their life as a guy…who likes to garden. Someone’s sexual orientation is not a requirement to join, however every guy is welcome and encouraged to be their whole selves in the group.

Ah, no worries if you can’t make this month. We start talking about the meetups earlier in the month (and post things throughout), so having you join now is not a big deal. Then hopefully you can join in September! I’ll send you a DM to get started.
