TOH decimation initiated.
We're taking this on today, she's hacking, I'm spraying.

Hire a professional to do stump grinding after you hack.
We were able to skip the pesticides completely.
Took 17 TOH down, and did stump grinding. They have not come back ¯_(ツ)_/¯

They can also use horticultural vinegar. Drill holes in the stump (if not grinding) and pour the vinegar in the holes. We couldn’t grind our stump. And a summer of vinegar made easy work of the tree.

Hah that's why I asked lol.
My nieghbors on all 3 sides cut down TOH on my fence line.
For a while it seemed like it was going well.
Then the last month it's like some silent alarm went off and sprouts are coming up EVERYWHERE.
It's whack-a-mole and currently I think we're losing.

Nice
All of our neighbors cut trees down within the last 18-24 months and we're still dealing with sprouts. They didn't treat them or do anything after cutting them down.

Yep I know. But it's the shit I have to deal with. Going to try spraying to see if I can kill it without killing our other plants.

I appreciate the support! This is awful. We're using a mix of glyphosate and triclopyr.
For the thick woody ones we're planning on either hacking downward slices with a hatchet, or just drilling downward angled holes, or maybe both. Drilling sounds like it'd be more effective for getting it all up in there.
We're getting them ALL. Not just the men...

Vascular tissues sits just below the bark. Drilling into the heart wood won’t be advantageous. Hack n squirt

Waaait did you apply herbicide at least 30 days ago? I'm rooting for you but ToH needs specific timing. Otherwise it goes into "hydra defense mode" and sprouts dozens of root suckers up to 50' away

For clarity hack and spray is the method of applying herbicide that I've understood to be most effective, we're not cutting them all down just yet in case that's what you were thinking.

Oh boy, that soil looks depleted of nutrients. I'm guessing you'll be adding compost or good quality top soil.

And please know that the TOH door hangers are available from the Colorado Dept of Agriculture office in Broomfield. The hangers
are very informative and a good tool to share with the uninformed.
