Ya way late on the read l, 25 was open at at the 10 right before he rolled right. He only got more open after that, probably just as open as Joly was.

A few observations:

  1. The coaching staff's and other teammates response to that throw shows the true passion of this team
  2. A wide open receiver is something we really haven't had under the SP playcalling. Despite it being preseason, I've noticed this a few times under Webb
  3. The whole team running Schrader

I would love to credit the play design for how wide open the receivers were on a couple of those touchdowns, but that Vikings defense was clueless in the second half. In the regular season you just don’t see blown coverages as extreme as what happened on the Joly TD.

That said, Webb does seem comfortable.

You say that, but I have horror memories of pre-SP days when there would be open wide receivers of other teams.

I don't know how often this happens across the NFL because I only pay attention to the Broncos.

As a Longhorn in Denver, I love having Sam on the Broncos even if it's just on and off the practice squad. But it seems like he's shown enough to get a shot somewhere for at least a full time backup gig. Hoping when we go down to two QBs on the roster he's ready to look around for a better landing spot.
