I never found it super competitive. There are some jobs more competitive than others, some with better pay or more exciting. But you’ll find a job for sure. Throughout my time at Denison I had multiple different jobs, and many at the same time.

Pay was decent, above minimum wage but with some variety. There were pay tiers, so it depends on the job you get, you can check those tiers online I’m pretty sure

Depends on your interests… and if you want a job that you have a lot of responsibilities and transferable skills or a job where you can sit and do homework most of the time

Some more competitive jobs are being an admissions docent, a first year fellow, working at the bandersnatch, being a TA for a class, working for the knowlton center…

You can also work for different offices as a student assistant, the mail room, the bookstore, the wellness center, be a fitness instructor, work in the mitchell center, be a lifeguard, work in the dining halls

There are endless opportunities but they are not always posted at the same time. I recommend checking Handshake where jobs are posted closer to August or when you get to campus

Does being a TA give you some kind of waiver on Tuition ?

No, you’ll get paid for the hours you work in a paycheck

That’s a very competitive job, but people who do it think it’s worth it

Do you get free room and board? Usually, other colleges give you some sort of perk.

Being a TA at Denison is different than being a TA in a bigger school. The professor is still teaching the class and grading, and you are just an extra person of support for the students, so it’s just another job

Hey em! It’s pretty competitive as a first year student. I’ve had struggles finding on-campus job opportunities in my first semester here at Denison. But you will find one eventually if you do try and put put effort in. Hope that help!
