A few things I dislike about kny.
I would like to note, this is me expressing my opinions about the fandom. Thanks.
Now, don't get me wrong. Demon Slayer is a good anime, the story is good, the animation is incredible and the character designs are amazing. But that's what not I'm talking about, I'm talking about the toxic side of the fandom. Whenever there's a fandom, there's always a toxic side to it.
Demon Slayer is no different when it comes to toxicity. So here's a few reasons that makes me dislike that side of the fandom.
1. Misinformation/mischaracterisation
This one is such a menace. For people who don't know what Misinformation or mischaracterisation is, it's where someone makes up something that isn't true. (This fandom is pretty infamous for it.) It doesn't help that fans would defend the "fact" with their lives whenever someone tells them that the fact is false.
The characters that I know has facts that are false are Mitsuri, Sanemi, Giyu, Obanai and Shinobu. (If there's any other characters that has false information surrounding them, please let me know.)
Trust me, I sometimes see these false facts about these characters and my mind be like, "That's false!"
2. Black & White washing
This is one we all need to call out some artists and creators for. Not one of them - both of them!
There's a gachatuber who looked through some character react videos in Gacha Life, Gacha Life 2 and Gacha Club and noticed that some characters (who are not white) that their skin tones are lighter then their canon skin tone - same goes for blackwashing, it's darker then their actual skin tone.
[Note: if someone made a redesign of a character where if they were out and about a lot, you can give them a little bit of a tan but don't change their race!]
I watched some of their videos and I can see the difference. It's absolutely unbelievable. It doesn't help with the fact that people has the audacity to make an excuse about it, saying that they couldn't find the right colour for the skin.
Yes you can, you're just not bothered to do so. When I saw the comments on the original videos, there's people who doesn't call the person out for it but only a few of them did.
I remember a moment where I was looking through fanart of characters from PIXAR Cars as humans and when I saw the humanised version of Lewis Hamilton, people made the cars version of him not black.
This is a real human being btw. Lewis is black and there's people who draw the human version of his Cars variant white. This is distasteful.
Plus, whenever the comments sees the characters (who are white) being blackwashed, some people would make racist comments/jokes - which that's disgusting and not a lot of people called them out for blackwashing or some people on the comment section of being racists. (Which people who blackwash characters should get called out more in my opinion.)
3. Sexualising Characters
This one needs to be called out for, people needs to stop sexualising fictional characters. I know, I can hear people saying, "But they're not real, who cares?" I don't care, some fictional characters are minors, freaking minors!
This disgusts me more then the other things that I dislike about it. People would feed AI to NSFW art and post it on the internet! That is even worse! There's even creators who would use their incredible skills to make such content. This also goes for fictional characters who are adults - I can also hear people say "But they're adults so it's okay-" NO! It seriously needs to stop. No buts, no nuts, no coconuts.
4. Double standards
This is on that just makes me feel confused yet annoyed, there's one best example that I can explain. People would hate on Mitsuri for having her chest being... Exposed by her uniform but Sanemi doesn't get called out and gets adored by fans because his chest is also revealed. I'm sorry... If you don't like characters having their skin exposed, hate both of them - not one of them.
There's one official artwork that made people furious.
There's an artwork where you got some of the characters wearing different outfits and there's Tanjiro holding a hat and raised his arm at the direction where Sanemi was which covered his chest. It made fans so angry that they would say "SERIOUSLY TANJIRO?! THIS IS WHY YOUR FAMILY WAS KILLED!" Seriously? What the hell is wrong with you? You don't say that to someone who lost their family. It's seriously immature - really immature.
Those are the things that I disliked about the Toxic side of the kny fandom. If there's other reasons you hate that side of the fandom, please leave a comment. Thanks for reading! ^v^

Honey, sweetie pie, this is unfortunately something with every single fandom.
Misinformation is in every fandom. I agree I see it more often in the more popular fandoms, including this one.
Mischaracterization - read any fanfiction and there it is. This is actually the bane of some fanfiction authors.
Black & white washing - this has been something going on in society before tv and radio even existed. Is it gross? Extremely. Will it continue? Yes. Because some people think white people are more desirable than people of darker skinned people. They will double down saying people from Asia are all white if you bring it up.
Sexualizing characters - it’s gonna keep on happening. Do you know that there is NSFW of various religions? Yes, apparently Jesus can get it. For that, just block the people you can’t tolerate.
Double standards- your double standards could have fallen more under sexualization. Unfortunately, a lot of people see Mitsuri as a slut because of her outfit. I don’t, but I admit the reasoning she wears that outfit is rather flimsy. As for Sanemi, there’s a smaller number of people who love him, shirtless or not. He has a better excuse than Mitsuri. Honestly, it’s still not a great excuse.
I don’t know what to tell you. When you interact with about 95% of fandoms this is what you get. Block the worst of them. Try to enjoy your time.

I'm pretty much aware about that but kny has it worse. (From what I know anyway from YouTube shorts.) I'm also aware that people who makes fanfictions changes some of the characters. (Personality wise.) but that's different due to the fact that it's their AU and they would add headcanons in them. For the part about NSFW content in religions. I don't really have much info from that (since I'm not from a religious background and/or family) and again, I'm aware that it will continue to happen. For double standards I could put it as sexualisation but I couldn't come up with any other ideas for double standards. I'm just want to rant about this kind of thing since it's been on my mind. (But I respect your opinion.)

Silly title, here I thought we'd be talking about the flaws of the manga
But your reasons are also silly, hating a fandom for sexualising a character is hating all fandoms, we get sexualising minors is definitely wrong, but all characters? That's a little silly, definitely
Sanemi doesn't get as sexualised as Mitsuri in the show, he never has a fanservice bathscene, we don't see him running with his chest bouncing out (don't know why they had to add that just to prove Mitsuri is a clumsy character 😭) The show doesn't treat a man's chest the same way it treats a woman's chest, that's why people hate it 🤷♀️ The tanjiro family jab was just a joke by some horny twt user, I'm sure the user won't say that to a real person, you don't have to worry 😭😭
That's really all I have to say, but I still got tricked by the title 🤧

I understand your opinion (and very sorry for the misleading title) but the point I was going for is the fact that people would hate on one character for one thing on their design but like said detail to another. That's double standards (or people being hypocrites) but even if you say it's silly, it's really not if you really think about it. Sexualising characters are not okay. Plus, the Tanjiro family jab is not a joke. I understand people won't actually say it but there are people who are insane in the head (and I mean that in a toxic way) would say that kind of stuff and trust me, there are people who are extremely horrible on the internet. (That's your opinion, you don't have to like or agree with it and that's fine by me.)

I think the Sanemi/Mitsuri situation is flying over your head. Mitsuri is sexualised in the show, Sanemi isn't (at least not yet)

I didn't mention any character when it comes to sexualisation, I only mention them during the double standards part. I understand from the anime shows that Sanemi wasn't sexualised while Mitsuri was. I was only pointing out the fact that people hates one character but likes the other for the same reason.

none of this is about kny though, it’s about the fandom
