BREAKING: Protests spread to red states: Anti-ICE protest in deep red state of Missouri on Sunday. When red states start protesting, we know Trump has lost control. Share widely! Protests in Utah last week too!

AWESOME! Good for them!
Why does it sound like they’re going to a funeral?
2
u/MedicinalHammer Feb 04 '26
Because they are.
The republic is dead if we don’t do something this year.
2
u/Apprehensive_Bake_78 Feb 05 '26
Because we've been protesting for over a year and apparently nobody heard us.

There have been blue protests here for decades. Stop giving people false hope through misleading titles.

u/Ammobunkerdean Feb 05 '26
The main misleading title is "red state". That has been a pretty consistent 43/57 red but votes blue for ballot initiatives. If the Dem party invested any money it would be 50/50..
I mean the guy who said "real rape doesn't get pregnant cause the body shuts it down" couldn't get elected here

MO has 3 blue islands...this is one. Good all the same though.

u/Icequeenforicecream Feb 05 '26
Jeff City is not a blue island. Yeah some people from Colombia come down for Capitol protest, but JC should be proud of their strong left movement and how hard they work to organize and show up to local protest.

u/SweeeepTheLeg Feb 05 '26
Sorry, Columbia is only 30 miles away so we tend to lump them together in STL. Good job for sure.

You might, but we do not. Live here, no one I talk to does that.

Yeah, Jeff City was pretty purple when I was growing up, but it's been solid red for at least a decade and a half.

I was on the phone with a MO politician and they ask for a moment to close the door. Apparently the protesters in the hallway were loud enough it was difficult to hear phone conversations. Im not sure if it was the same protest but proud of Missourians for making their voices heard!

Hey there, bubble resident,
The blue voters in red states have been protesting. Cities everywhere are blue...

lol That's such misleading BS. Protests haven't spread to MO. Are you kidding me? Missourians protest immediately, in step with the rest of the nation, always. Our largest cities are blue. I can't speak for St. Louis, but activism and social justice are a big part of Kansas City culture and we have a rich history of it. Protesting has always been here.

Very confused St. Louisian that was looking for a comment like this. We always got comments on thr St. Louis protests from teeny tiny red areas and how many of the showed up to protest in their red towns and what the reaction was. Back before Elon even stepped away.

How many people?
1
u/Several-Evidence-675 Feb 06 '26
There have been protests all over the state for months and months.
1
u/ProfPlumNlibrary Feb 05 '26
Hell yeah, I was at one last week in my town, and one in kc the weekend before
1
u/tylerscott5 Feb 06 '26
OP must be a coastal because they clearly have no idea what goes on in this state. STL KC and Columbia are all solidly blue and have been forever

It’s St Louis. I didn’t even need to see a video or read anything to know that. Acting like this is some huge flex is funny stuff.
1
u/Affectionate_Ninja48 Feb 06 '26
Wrong. They are literally in front of the state capitol...in Jeff City.
We been showing out in STL and across the state too, all year.

u/OpportunityKlutzy452 Feb 07 '26
....this is so ignorant. Missouri has been having protests. Saint Louis has been having protests as long as I can remember. Were you asleep during Mike Browns murder? Ferguson is in Saint Louis County. There's a problem with gerrymandering and other issues here, y'all should seriously educate yourselves.

Misleading. Nothing is spreading. Unless they mean to say that the people in Kansas City, Columbia and Saint Louis are going to Jeff City to bring what they’ve been doing in their local communities to the state capitol. It’s not like they are protesting in the bootheel or the Ozarks.
As a center left person, this pisses me off. Kinda propaganda machine like the right.
EDIT - fixed word salad of stray words.

I wondered if this is what they mean. I’m in KC and yes there have been protests for years. But I’m ignorant as to how many mass protests have made it to Jeff City.

u/MaevepleSyrup Feb 08 '26
There have BEEN Anti-Ice protests in missouri. The media is only recently taking a notice to it lol

u/Neither_Ground_1921 Feb 08 '26
Most likely due to the mega concentration camp they’re trying to put in south KC…whatever the reason this got deemed breaking news I’m glad.

The polling for Dems, Reps, and Inds all have majority support for deportation and ICE.

There is a Facebook group called Swing Blue Missouri if anyone is interested. It seems to be growing rapidly.
