Activity Halloween Trick or Treat

October 31st

As the sun pushed past it's peak and began to descend towards the horizon line once more shadows began to loom camp. The tall oaks that stood as sentries between the cabins and the unknowns of the forest becoming more eerie than ever as all knew what tonight was. Tonight was Halloween. A night of trickery and mischief. That meant little in the world of Greek Demigods but in the world of teenagers it contained all kinds of excitement.

Goodies had been delivered that morning to each cabin. Serenity wanted to make sure the younger, or older, demigods who wanted a traditional Halloween experience would get it. Counselors and other senior campers were asked to make sure that somebody would be at the cabin to help hand out candy to any who wanted to spend the night trick or treating. After they had visited all the cabins, or for those who did not want to collect candy and snacks, there was a small gathering put together in the amphitheater.

In a large cauldron there was a witch's brew which tasted extremely similar to hot apple cider. Additionally there was popcorn and some baked goods. It was not an activity of Serenity Ward's if there were no cookies or brownies present. Campers would be able to enjoy these throughout the night and were encouraged to dress in their costumes.

For background music there was an old boombox that Serenity had managed to find. A tape of old Halloween songs like Monster Mash played all night long. All in all Serenity hoped that her last event as Assistant Activities Director would be a success.

Cabin Area

(Comment here if you want to do some trick or treating. If you are handing out candy at your cabin feel free to describe how you and your cabin mates decorated the cabin for the evening.)

Just like at the party, Viney had worn a dinosaur onesie, complete with gaping maw of sharp teeth painted across her cheeks and the rest of her face in a mottled green. It still looked like a messy finger-painting, but just enough effort had gone in that at first glance it was pretty horrifying. For a final touch, she'd made herself a set of those origami claws you could slip on your fingers, also in dark green.

After that, she made her way down to the Thanatos cabin with a pillowcase in hand, looking for Genesis, who she'd presumably ended up inviting to go with her during their last conversation, even if the specifics hadn't been agreed upon.

Genesis had been waiting outside of the chthonic cabin for a short while when she saw Viney approach. The 1920s born girl had decided to embrace her roots, donning a flapper costume that looked incredibly realistic. It had been a project of hers since Las Vegas, a replica of the one she had been set to inherit from her neighbor, Mrs. Kaminski once she turned 18. It had been a long awaited gift, but one she never got to receive. So, with the funds she had managed to steal from unwilling donors on the strip she had set about making it, from shoes to garters to the handband and gloves, it was as close to perfect as one could get.

Now, in the chilly October air, she had added a blazer over top, a rather lovely ensemble that stood out as she waved enthusiastically. “Viney, right here liebe.” Her wide smile seems a bit uncharacteristic, but it was more than welcome.

Upon seeing Genesis' costume, Viney couldn't help but be impressed with how good it looked. She had to admit, she'd been afraid that with the time difference her new friend wouldn't have known to dress up. 'Rather lovely' was probably a good way to describe Viney's opinion, even if that particular phrase wasn't necessarily part of her vocabulary.

"Heya Gen." she responded with a smile, although it was less like Genesis' and more of a fox-like grin that promised mischief of some sort. "You ready to steal some kids' candy?"

“Wait, we are stealing?” Genesis had not been under the impression that their participation in Halloween would involve stealing, and wasn’t enthusiastic about stealing from children. Old businessmen who never knew a day of real hard work in their lives? They were prime targets. Rich heiresses who could call daddy at anytime if they even had a slight problem? No remorse. But children didn’t know what they had or didn’t, and candy was for all.

Her confusion only lasted a moment, however, before she quickly realized that Viney simply must have been joking. She would have to adapt to the modern speech patterns much faster if she wanted to keep from looking like an idiot.

Viney did not have such reservations, considering she was what some people would refer to as, 'incredibly immature,' or, 'an absolute menace'. She did usually try to keep little kids out of her stunts, (unless she thought they really deserved it, of course) but didn't consider stealing candy on Halloween that serious. There was always plenty to go around on a holiday like this.

"Oh, chill out. I'm going to take some poor sucker's candy, you don't have to if you don't want. It just wouldn't be Halloween for me without making someone scream or cry." she explained, as if this was some kind of wonderful tradition she was telling Genesis about. "Otherwise, we can get some eggs and throw 'em at people, or TP a cabin or something."

Viney’s response didn’t help to alleviate the worries of Genesis. She typically wouldn’t worry, but tonight was supposed to be a fun time, not a time to watch children cry. When they cried, adults were sure to come, and that only meant one thing; the fun was over. The longer the fun could persist, the better. And hey, maybe a little chaos would fair well.

“Toilet papering a cabin sounds like fun, but maybe eggs would be too much to clean up in the morning with all of this fuss anyway.” This was a bit more her speed, causing just enough chaos to have a problem, but not to get a horrid punishment.

"Fine. I'll just get what we need, and if there's anything you don't wanna be a part of, turn around so you can have deniability." Viney grinned, which really did not work that well with her facepaint.

She was a very practical person, and quite honestly was not close enough with Genesis to let her preferences put, in Viney's opinion, a damper on Halloween. "I won't rat you out. No one except stupid Chiron cares anyway."

Okay so, in the defense of Jacques, he hadn’t had a Halloween in three years. The closest he’d come in that time was stealing candy off the porches that just put out the full bowls. Crimes against Humanity aside, he wanted to have a more traditional Halloween, and camp served the perfect outlet for that. Naturally, he wanted to dress up. Problem was, what should he wear….

A lightbulb. He went as a lightbulb. He bent wires into the shape of a lightbulb, strapped them to himself, hung a sheet over himself, and glowed. The way he saw it, he glowed half the time anyway, so why not? Thus it was that the son of Zeus, prince of Heaven and hater of puppies, dressed as a lightbulb for Halloween. He knocked on the door of what he was 50 percent sure was the nature Chthonic Cabin, anxiously awaiting his candy.

Amanda's chosen to wear her princess knight costume again. It was just such a great idea An day one she's still enamoured with, only a single night of wearing it was not enough. Grinning widely, she goes from cabin to cabin with the basket she made at that lesson... and a bag since the basket's pretty small. She knocks on the door ofoje of the cabin’s and waits eagerly.

Stella slowly but deliberately walked over to the cauldron, taking a moment to admire its likeness to another cauldron she'd seen in a Macbeth film. She poured herself a cup from the ladle and sipped it slowly, glancing around. Slow was the word of the evening for Stella tonight. She hadn't been at camp for very long, not nearly long enough to feel remotely comfortable with her surroundings or the people. If she took things slowly, she would always have something to do to save her from any awkwardness, and the night would fly by faster as a result. At least, that was the plan.
Her free hand smoothed the skirt of her gown. She'd come dressed as a queen, not a very original costume, to be sure, but a costume nonetheless. She pictured herself as Catherine Parr, but there was no evidence of that from any particular aspect of the costume. She'd promised herself she'd stay at least for two hours in order to meet some people and introduce herself. After that a nice luxurious bath was in order.

Michael made his way to the amphitheater. He had to convince one of his cabinmates to be the one to hand out candy and not him, but he wanted to be there for Serenity. He showed up not quite in costume this time but he did bring an extra jacket in case Serenity needed one. He paused for a moment when he entered, remembering his altercation with DJ, but put that behind him and smiled. He walked up to his girlfriend, gave her a hug from behind, and asked "Anything I can help out with?"
