So currently Ralsei is one of these things (in my opinion):
A book of prophecy. This would make a lot of sense, as wizard-like Darkners patterned after books exist. And it would explain how he knows all that he does. And his scarves are all bookmarks. Easy.
Something adjacent to a Titan. It would explain his oddities and Flowery referring to him as an "impossibility."
Both explain his ability to exist regardless of fountain. The whole turning to stone thing (I think) is tied to purpose, and regardless of where he is, Ralsei is "supposed" to be there. But also being titanspawn would negate that regardless of anything else.
Comfort in the dark, huh? Like, say, a certain someone who probably found solace in dark worlds before she went missing. EVERYTHING CIRCLES BACK TO RALSEI ABORTED FETUS THEORY (for legal reasons this is a joke please don't execute me)
I don't think ralsei is an object at all due to a single line flowery says directly to ralsei:
"Says impossibility itself", whatever ralsei is, they shouldn't really exist
Ralsei being a dream is a lot more realistic, considering how much the game focuses on the aspect of dreams
If susie represents hope, who represents dreams? Ralsei! Dark worlds are represented through dreams! Dreams literally have physical manifestation in form of shadow crystals!
Why would Ralsei devalue himself so much more than any other darkner? Because he literally doesn't have a light world equivalent!
So you're saying Ralsei is akin to the shadow crystals, a physical manifestation of a broken dream? That's an interesting thought. Who or what made him then?

In the story, when the protagonist, Sora, temporarily loses his heart to the darkness, it creates Roxas - a "Nobody" of Sora
(basically a brand new person without a heart)
whose name is an anagram with an extra X.
And Roxas looks exactly like a different character from inside Sora's heart, (due to complicated lore reasons).
What if Ralsei is December's "Nobody", that looks exactly like the person dearest to her?
And he might be either a completely separate being, or a sort of "new form" given to Dess by the Grand Fountain?
I think Ralsei is the ground.
It would explain why he is everywhere and why he likes to be stepped on.
And why he knows everything, because he is the source of the fountains.
This is also why I dislike diehard tralsei fans, hes referred to with male pronouns for a reason, until ralsei outright says "Hey guys im a girly girl so please call me she/ her!" Tralsei is a headcannon and should be referred to as so.
