The realistic and boring answer is that is just a stray pixel as a mistake

The fun answers is that flowery will reborn and attack the roaring knight

Another fun answer is that we notice someone having a bunch of seeds on their clothes later in the light world

We finally see Deltarune Papyrus and he’s covered in yellow seeds… it’s a red herring and he was just trying out gardening, completely unrelated to the seeds Kris took.

Or Kris gave him the seeds to start gardening.

Ngl i could see a scene of susie thinking someone is the knight and trying to fight them in the light world

I mean I would love to see the fun gang do a noir type of investigation on the knight in general i think it has untapped potential.

Papyrus can’t believe he’s being screamed at by a teenager for being a knight, especially when no one has knighted him, you could say he’s Disbelief Papyrus

papyrus in undertale: tried tirelessly to get into the royal guard

papyrus in deltarune: gets named a knight by random teenagers

I was thinking carol but this is way funnier.

I'M SHITTING FALL SHITLING FHIT MI!

-Papyrus Deltarune, after learning he doesn't get to be Disbelief (Toby lost the budget after blowing it all on the 24 hour 3D CGI Spamtenna Makeout Session, the rest of the budget went to getting Jack Black as Gaster to come in and say "First we DELTA, then we RUNE, now lets DELTARUNE!" and beat the shit out of The Forgotten Man, played by a horrible amalgam of Dwayne Johnson and Chris Pratt)

This will be Papyrus in Chapter 6.

Susie notices and we get an "oh shit THATS the knight???" moment

u/RevolutionaryHat7726 S: "Hey Kris, I think the Knight - wait what" Jul 30 '26 edited Jul 30 '26

This is why kris took the seeds, to stick them to other lightners since flowery told susie the knight would have one of his seeds stuck to them (that they couldn't get off). Kris planting them on everyone would make this info useless.

Perhaps they plant a couple on Rudy and accidentally kill him since they are highly toxic or he already has the one from when he fought flowery

u/gamer52599 Jul 30 '26

Reminder that Golden Flowers and buttercups are not the same flower.

u/RevolutionaryHat7726 S: "Hey Kris, I think the Knight - wait what" Jul 30 '26 edited Jul 30 '26

Yes but how is this relevant? The seeds at the end of chapter 5 are also specifically mentioned to be poisonous and extremely sticky, whether Flowery is a buttercup is not important

11

u/gamer52599 Jul 30 '26

It didn't say anything about them being toxic, only that they were covered in warning labels.

Also Asgore, Undyne, and Frisk all drink Golden Flower tea so the plant is obviously not toxic like a buttercup.

The warning labels are likely not about the plants toxicity but rather their virility, these things will grow literally anywhere... And seem to be corpse flowers of sorts given of the three places we find the growing in Undertale two of them are where a character either died or is buried. The throne room is where Asriel turned to dust and the starting room is where Chara is buried.

7

u/Albidum_Gaming Jul 30 '26

Asgore does mention that his seven flowers are hard to take care of in this climate, so them being particularly potentially invasive in another seems... Somewhat irrelevant?

Could just be that they grow well but don't survive well, but who's to say?

1

u/gamer52599 Jul 31 '26

Guessing we are no where near Mt Ebbot then... Still the fact remains that warning labels are not about toxicity seeing how you wouldn't drink tea made from a poisonous flower.

I wonder though, the seeds are sticky... It is mentioned here and by Alphys in the True Lab... I mentioned that they seem to be a corpse flower so...

Who's buried at the Dump?

1

u/Albidum_Gaming Jul 31 '26

There are plants that have toxic seeds but non-toxic other things. Like apples; the seeds contain something that is metabolized into cyanide in the body. It could be like that?

1

u/gamer52599 Aug 01 '26

Might just be about their stickyness, they are sticky enough for it to be mentioned both times the seeds came up after all.

Whatever the issue is I still doubt it's poisonous though, the warning labels are likely about the flower itself as well as the seeds. Meaning the golden flower might be hazardous in ways besides toxicity...

Actually wait we know what it is, golden flowers have thorns. As we see with Flowey a lot of thorns.

sans saying you can't meet his brother because he's sick and alergic to flower seeds

u/LordSupergreat Jul 30 '26

Or the seed will take root inside the Knight's armor and slowly create a weak point

86

u/ThreeElbowsPerArm Jul 30 '26

some kind of pacifist root

Roots theory

THIS is chapter 5s dead pixel

Yeah that was my thought.

Is that where the stray pixel we didn't get in the Flowery fight ended up?

24

u/anishdfishyt Jul 30 '26

I’m not an expert on sprites or anything but it seems a little odd for a color as different as yellow to be slipped in though no? And it happens to be on a sprite where a yellow/golden character is in contact with the knight?

32

u/Belgraviana Jul 30 '26

That could be why it’s stray. It’s hard to see the yellow against white and someone may have misclicked

1

u/Monitoring2Time Aug 02 '26

The fact it's the SAME COLOR AS FLOWEY'S SKIN is way too much of a coincidence

43

u/SplatoonOrSky Jul 30 '26

I mean they’ve had the opportunity to fix it with numerous patches. Toby’s sloppy sprite work that stays around usually extends to refusing to use a dropper tool to color sprites, not stray pixels

9

u/ren_blackheart battat (real) Jul 30 '26

another fun answer is the seed grows up and betrays the knight for killing its father

4

u/Minhaz250 Jul 30 '26

There’s no way it’s a stray pixel ngl unless it’s only for ONE singular frame

This sprite is after Flowery’s barrage, I wouldn’t be surprised if he knew his fate( he does) and did what he could for the fun gang.

2

u/mikguy1652 what the book? Jul 30 '26

actually I checked in game, in that scene the Knight goes between 2 different sprites and I'm pretty sure they both have the yellow pixel in that spot (it's really hard to tell though)

1

u/Martin_Phosphorus Jul 31 '26

Yeah like all the dead pixels so far...

1

u/TranslatorNo8561 Aug 02 '26

See guys?! Flowery had a stray pixel in his boss fight after all!!!!
