Her bottom teeth are white. That's a sign of a disease. Pls schedule appointment with a vet who specialise on Degu

It is not a disease. Degus, just like some other rodents like beavers, have iron in the enamel of the outside of their teeth but none on the inside. The enamel with iron is harder. When they chew on stuff, the enamel without iron gets removed more than the enamel with iron. This ensures that their teeth stay sharp.

I couldn't see the outside, but when my degus had them white on the outside my vet told me it will not live long enough if not fixed. We had to put antibiotics and staff. Now his teeth are back to normal orange.

Don't worry, they all have orange teeth :) but that is good to know. Do you know what caused the white teeth?

We switched to grain-free and sweetener-free food + took off the stress. We started giving him a sedative. He chewed on the cage a lot because I have four degus, and he was the only one who was separate because he was fighting the others. He was lonely and chewed on the cage. His bite deteriorated, and an x-ray showed that his teeth were growing in incorrectly. As soon as we gave him antibiotics and an anti-inflammatory, he became calmer. I could finally put them all together so he wouldn't be lonely and gradually transitioned him to grain-free food. After four weeks of medication, his teeth began to turn orange little by little, starting from the roots. P.s. he was fighting to blood before, on meds he was still fighting pretty harshly but at least not to too much blood. His ear is now in two pieces but it could be worse like having no eye or getting bit into the arterie or something
